Summary: Remus doesn’t know why Lily’s asking him for his opinion on wedding invitations.
Note: Seriously, it’s like a test to see how close I can get to the 500-word limit.

Remus doesn’t know why Lily’s asking him for his opinion on wedding invitations. Just because he picked a rather fetching color for hers and James’ living room (as the two were arguing about two completely different colors) didn’t mean that he was suddenly an expert in everything artistic.

“Voilà! What do you think?”

Remus bites his bottom lip as he stares at the invitation.

Her face falls. “You hate it.”

“No, no! Not at all, it’s not that. It’s…oh dear, this is a little awkward…”

“What? You hate the colors? I thought the red and gold motif would be nice since we were Gryffindors -”

“It’s the date,” he blurts to get her to stop rambling.

I love Remus and Lily fics! You've just made my day, seriously. I like the setting--having James away on a mission--and how Lily is trying to plan this whole thing during the war and failing. Remus deserves all the love for his way of reassuring her.

Btw, I totally didn't catch the date thing when klose sent me the preview of the prompt (really, shame on me because I have their birthdays memorized), so I like how you've incorporated that into the fic as well.

Remus is basically my spirit animal <3 definitely why when I saw the date I immediately recognized it to be his birthday; I'm such a fangirl Glad you liked it!

... oh god! My fantastic methodology for picking the date was Googling a 1979 calendar and picking a random Saturday in March. It absolutely did not occur to me to cross-check the dates, lol...

... But I love how you've worked with it! And given us something a little different, too. I love that this isn't just a discussion about wedding dates (and how much do I love the Remus/Lily dynamic, here?!!), so much as it comes round to Lily's fear and worry. The sense of urgency they portray rings very true.

Oh, I like this a lot! Remus-Lily is a great friendship, and I love how you had Remus push aside his own discomforts to help Lily. Brill drabble!

Great little drabble--and I, too, applaud the keen spotting of Remus's birthday. This line--"Trust me, he’s not going to let himself get killed before he marries you"--and the messing up of Remus's cardigan had me well amused. : )
