Summary: Not every date at Puddifoot’s is romantic.

“Evans, do y’ reckon you might start to at least pretend you’re having a brill time? Would it help if I showed you what these trousers do for my bum?”

The boy began to stand, but Lily effectively halted his movements with a quick draw of her wand.

“Bloody hell, woman-it was a suggestion.”

“May I make a suggestion?” She tried to contain her smirk.

“Certainly, date.”

“Might you stop ogling Penelope Sloper’s breasts? I can assure that if you take a break to look me in the eyes now and again, they’ll still be there when you go back.”

“Gudgeon keeps obstructing my view! Don’t know what she sees in the ponce-spilled hot chocolate on his shirt twice and nearly wet himself when she reached round for the sugar.”

“Sirius, you nearly wet yourself when she reached for the sugar ( ... )

Oh, I wish I could favorite this or something. I really, really enjoyed it. Loved the way you characterized Sirius here, especially the bit about the trousers, and also Lily's jealousy over the cauldrons (whether she was being serious or not) made me laugh. Awesome drab!

Thank you! I really enjoyed yours, as well. The 6th year snapshots always leave me wanting more + I've always liked to think that even though they didn't get together til 7th, Lily developed feelings a bit earlier on :)

Of course. Because you know she undoubtedly spent a ridiculous amount of time trying to convince herself that she didn't have feelings for him. :)

Haha that was great! I loved James' apology for not having as nice a bum as Sirius... he prob does, he's just can't see it ;) I absolutely loved Sirius and Lily's banter, esp the line about the cauldrons, haha :D

thanks for reading! ever since harry found lily's letter in DH, i've loved the idea of l & s as close friends & i always enjoy fics that show the early bonding, so i thought i'd give it a try :)

Oh lawd, I love this - ! And it makes me extra glad we opened up the drabbles to gen fics, as it were. I think I'm in love with your Sirius, and your Lily, and even your James (even though we only get a glimpse of him through a letter, it rings so true). Thank you SO much for this. Have you written any other Marauder fic? I'm so going to have to look it up, now.

thank you! this scenario is actually the first thing i thought of when i read the prompt..kinda odd, right? :) so i was really glad to see the new rules, too. i love how in your fic you can see the personalities so well through just dialogue..dialogue is my fav part of writing-so fun! i do have an account on FF.net under a diff author name, but most of the stories on it were written when i was like 13 (trust me, its not pretty) and i don't want to subject anyone to that haha...finding the L/J games has definitely gotten me back into the ship though, so maybe I'll write more!

thanks :) i totally relate on the word deletion thing..this was my first drabble, too, and i had such a tough time making cuts! 500 words is freakin short. oh, and "advanced payment"-love that!

That was very cute! I thought James's letter was hilarious. I also liked Lily's hints about Slughorn at the end. Nicely done! :)
