[FIC; PG-13] Stalking at teatime, by MartheMaria marthemaria March 28 2011, 21:10:20 UTC
Title: Stalking at teatime.
Author/Artist: MartheMaria
Rating & Warnings: PG-13 for a little swearing.
Summary: James does a little stalking during the Valentine’s Hogsmeade weekend.

Okay, my first drabble ever - and now I remember why! I have issues with limited wordcounts and I had to delete half of the original drabble. I hope you’ll enjoy it anyway.

James watched as his date ran out of the crowded, cherub-filled teashop. He was nothing short of the world’s biggest git.
‘Here you go, the first date set. Enjoy.’
He looked up at Madam Puddifoot whose disapproving gaze confirmed his own conclusion.

Yes, he truly was an ass.

It was pathetic, James thought, as he stared longingly at the couple a few tables away. He was pathetic, but then again, this was the closest he’d ever gotten to dating Lily Evans. Literally. He had promised his date, Vanessa Blye, a good time at Hogsmeade; and, incidentally, ‘a good time’ meant leaving right after Lily and Jason, accidentally visiting every shop they went to and even following them into ( ... )

Applause for first drabbles! Isn't it so sad when you realise you're at 600 words and not even halfway through? Well, you managed to cut it down very nicely! Poor Vanessa and Jason are just casualties in a great love story. So cute! =)

Thanks for the comment! Ah, yes, the horror I felt when I had reached my 500-words-limit, but Lily hadn't reached James' table yet... I'm still mourning for the unwritten lines and the deleted scenes ;D

Very cute! I loved Lily's confrontation of James. And her stealing the cake!

Thank you (: Yes, a good cake-stealing is very healthy once in a while. Besides, I think she needed the sugar to overcome the shock that she'd actually agreed to go out with James - or to survive her date with poor Jason, of course.

I really love reading fics where James is trying to persuade Lily to ditch her date for him. Dunno why, but it's hot. XD

This was a fun read!

I agree! Isn't it lovely when he's being all 'You look bored, come talk to me, I'll make it worth your while'. Very cheeky, very sexy. I love how she considers it, even when she knows it's wrong. So she refuses, but you just know she'll be thinking about the fun she could've had if she'd gone with James.

I feel rather bad for James's date, lol. But I loved Lily at the end - maybe Vanessa can hook up with Jason. Nice! :)

Haha, yes. Pretty mean, actually, and he felt rather guilty - rightly so! Originally, that'd been my intention: two disastrous dates because James won't stop following Lily and Lily won't stop glaring at him/telling him off. I think Vanessa would've packed her things and sat down next to Jason to 'Give those two the date they apparently wanted'. Anyway, I was already approaching 500 words with sketching the situation (is that an expression in English? It is in Dutch and I'm sure you know what I mean) so it turned out quite different.
