Essentially the limited number of participants stems from the need to keep everything even on both sides in order to have a fair game setup. For instance if you had 19 writers and 1 artist on one side and 13 writers and 4 artists on the other, you're going to have skewed voting. Art always gets more votes/comments than fic, and fic length can really limit the number of readers. klose and I tried to figure out a way to contain the number of variables for the fest.

The limited number also has to do with the size of the Lily/James fandom. Like I mentioned in the rules, Games are primarily for bigger ships (Remus/Sirius, Harry/Draco, Harry/Snape) and often have fifty slots together for both teams. Unfortunately, our size doesn't allow for that, and we can't really afford to make the rosters too large for fear of skewing the teams, as I said before. Honestly, we really wish we could get the number of participants that these bigger fests have. ><

When we had the feedback poll last year, we asked who would be interested in participating to get a feel for the number of necessary slots. So we sorta based our rosters on the number of participants last year, the people who said they would be interested in the feedback poll, and realistic expectations.

I hope that clears some things up. It's by no means rare to have limited slots in Games, but we had to downsize for this particular ship. Your concerns are completely legit though, and we appreciate your concern!

What klose and I have come up with is a version of the "flashround" that will take place during the 10 week writing period. For this, we're going to post prompts for everyone to respond to, so even if they didn't get a chance to play in the Games, they can still participate in a way!
