Excellent story. Using the dinner party to showcase the prejudice really worked well. Also liked the interactions between Lily and James, and how you pointed out that gulf in understanding that will always be there.

That was brilliant - really powerful in a way that transcends HP politics, you know? I thought you really hooked into the story with a great balance of political tension and romance. Well done!

Oh, I'm so happy you enjoyed this! I wish people involved politics into MWPP era fic more, alas...

And thanks, I hoped there would be a bit of a balance. I am happy to hear that I succeeded :3 THANKS AGAIN FOR COMMENTING, I APPRECIATE IT! ♥

Since the start of this fest, I’ve been intrigued to see what the writers would do with visual prompts - they leave so much to the imagination, and really allow the writer to go wild.

And wild you did go. This fic was brilliant, and honestly made me think. I’ve always been fascinated with JK Rowling’s portrayal of blood status in wizarding communities and I think you really delved into an important issue here. I’ve not read many other fanfiction works that focus on blood status and wizarding politics in such detail, or so passionately, so reading this was wonderful.

Your characterisations of Lily and James were spot on: Lily seems like a strong, independent woman, and James’ love for her was beautiful and touching. I like that you had Lily call him out on his privilege - it’s nice that you didn’t get caught up in the romance between them and allow the situation to be brushed over. I loved this paragraph here, towards the end: Blood supremacy doesn't exist, it's nothing more than a destructive, volatile, and lethal social construct. ( ... )

...Christ this reply was late.

But OMG I'm so touched by your commentary. I really had been thinking of how privilege and the lack thereof would work in the wizarding world and...well, this happened XD As much as I love Lily/James romance, I also just straight up love them on an angst level as well. It's a nice balance, given the times they were living in.

And yeah, Lily doesn't take that shit! Bam! XD

I love lack of coherency in this case :3 Thanks again

I never would have expected this from the prompt, but it is brilliant. I love the way you brought the war into it, the way you presented James and Lily's relationship, and just EVERYTHING about the dinner party. Just amazing. ♥

Late reply but thank so much for your commentary :) I really appreciate it, it means a lot to me.

And yeah, the prompt idea came to me pretty fast, but I imagine it def could have gone a v. different direction.
