ahhhh the joys of spending $100+ on MAC products all at once. but it's alright. it honestly was under $100 until the MA told me about the MAC Seminar coming up on the 21st where their trainer comes and teaches the people who sign up a bunch of various techniques and you can ask any and all questions your heart desires :) there was a $50 reservation fee, so that's the only reason it bumped it up over a hundred. also, apparently, nordstrom has a debit card that is tied to your bank account (so anything you spend is pulled out of your account) where for every dollar you spend, you get two points. at $2000 dollars, you get $20 back. however, you automatically get a $20 note for spending at least $100 the first day you have your card. i was already at $90, how could i pass that up? i just wish someone had told me about it sooner! the other two pigment samples i ordered also arrived today, vanilla and provence. here are some shots on what i purchased at MAC today and a little bit about each one:
here's the MAC FIX+ spray. the only reason i bought this was to use as a mixing medium for when i foil my shadows and pigments, and also since i stopped using foundation and just will be using the basics and powder, i can spray this over the powder to set it and make it look airbrushed and flawless :) next:
i purchased the liquidlast liner in "electrolady", and honestly, it was 100% an unintentional purchase. my total was at $90 and to get that card i mentioned, this is what i bought to kick the total over $100. it's a gorgeous shade though! in my next post tomorrow when i do the swatches and a look of the day, i'll post more pics :)
here's the "painterly" paint pot. i bought this to use as a heavier base when i work with just pigments. i feel like urban decay primer potion won't cut it, so i wanted a nude base to put on top of that. plus, i've also had problems with my liners bleeding onto my lid after a few hours and i'm going to see if a heavier base will rectify the issue.
this is the paint pot "chilled on ice" which is part of the Cham Pale collection MAC released for New Years. it's a collection of nudes and shimmery shades and it's absolutely gorgeous. i hope they'll still have the vintage paint pot when i go back in two weeks for the seminar :) this is one of the shades i'm most excited about trying out.
to replace the mascara i had before (which was zoom lash in rapid black), i purchased the new false lashes mascara. my friend had said really good things about it so i'm excited to see how it will look tomorrow. on a side note about mascara, the MA who did my friend's makeover used this mascara:
Zoom Lash in New Hue. it looked absolutely GORGEOUS. it was subtle, yet added a much needed oomph to the look. i really want it :) of course it's limited edition ha. of course.
when i told her i needed a shadow to replace shroom since i already had crystal avalanche as a highlighter, she suggested "Brule" (sorry there's supposed to be an apostrophe above the "e" to be like the creme dessert, but can't figure out how to do it, ha). it's matte, but she also said if my focus was mainly on shimmer shadows or veluxe finishes, it's a good idea to balance that with a matte look so it really brings the highlight in the shimmers out. i'm excited to try this shade too :)
here's the lipstick shade i got for free for the Back 2 MAC program, where you bring in six empty containers of their products. honestly, i wanted MAC Red but they were out because they'd been waiting for a restock shipment since after Christmas and hadn't gotten it yet. i asked for the next closest shade and was shown "Baby Woo" which is this shade. it's virtually identical but more matte and a tad bit darker. i don't mind either way, i just wanted a pure red shade!
here's two pigments i have, however, i am under the impression that they are COUNTERFEIT. i went to a lady who claimed to resell MAC products here in my location, and when i got there, my suspicions that they were all fake were confirmed. i purchased them anyway to compare them to the actual pigment. they're a lot less soft, less refined. however i found that both colors were still highly vibrant and very much pigmented. i would be careful though, because a lot of their counterfeit products are made in Asia with ingredients that would never be approved in the US (such as lead possibly or animal urine). just be on the look out =/ these were very convincing.
here's two of the sample pigments i received today, vanilla is on the left, provence is on the right. i was only planning on buying samples for their pigments and then purchasing the whole jar for the shades i loved and used constantly (you can see melon and black black in a previous post). i purchased vanilla mainly for a back-up highlight and to use as a facial highlighter. i bought provence as a substitute for "Soba" until i could buy the shadow again. vanilla is a gorgeous shade :)
last but not least, a shot of my whole MAC collection:
as you can see, there are a lot of products i use frequently. such as my blush, and a few of my shadows. eventually i'll get a blush palette and it's my aspiration to have a palette for every color wheel in their shadows in various finishes. course that's going to take a long time (and a lot of money!) so i probably won't be doing that until after i finish the two-week course at taylor andrews academy. here's a break down of the products depicted above from left to right:
- false lashes mascara in false black.
- prep + prime lash
- 15 color eye shadow palette with this colors inside: crystal avalanche, shroom, moonflower, goldmine, swish, brule (pictured above still in the individual pot but i've since depotted it), deep truth, bronze, typographic, cranberry, beauty mark'd, nehru, and black tied.
- liquid last liner in electro lady.
- eye kohl in smolder.
- blush in blushbaby.
- paint pots in painterly and chilled on ice (previously i also had bare study)
- mineralize eyeshadow duo in odd couple
- studio finish concealer in nw20
- a really old christmas color six shadow palette,
- fix+
- and lipsticks in the shades: baby woo and bombshell.
EDIT: sorry i forgot about the liquid eye liner in the background in black ha. it's hiding behind one of the lipsticks =/
