Grits

I like grits. I can't eat them much. Looked at them the other day and realized grits look like something I've already chewed and spit back up. I guess that's why I put raisins in them. So, I know for sure that I've already been there, done that ( Read more... )

Actually, I'd learned it as, "Chief slave of a household." I may have been misinformed. I was 19 years old at the time.

I think the modern idea of "factotum" is a head employee, a general servant, or one with general duties. As I learned it and I am sure you learned it the term refers to the head slave of a Roman household. I see the modern translation as being fairly accurate, minus the slave part of course...however, employee...slave, some might argue they are the same thing. :)
