We experienced our first auction the other night. It was 95degrees in a pole barn and it was very loud. The auction was full of building supplies. We were on a mission to find a new door. I didn't know we were going until 30min. before we left...so we had the children with us:( They were very good and we were only there for 2hrs. We found a couple of prehung exteriors doors that had beautiful leaded glass windows. Jared got the first of the two doors we liked when it went up for auction for $100!!! What a deal! I can see why people go to auctions so much. It could be addicting! That is, IF you set yourself a limit and stick to it:)
I finished Confessions of Catherine D' Medici by Gortner. It was wonderful. I couldn't put it down. I am not a history-buff, and you certainly don't need to be to enjoy this historical fiction. Then I tried to read The Last Queen by the same author, but I couldn't get into it. I don't know why, it just bored me.
I am now reading A Reliable Wife by Goolrick. I'm only a couple of chapters in, but it is intriguing. I'll keep you updated as I read more.
I realized that my summer break is running out. We have been doing a whole lot of nothing, mostly swimming at my in-laws and going to library programs 3-4x a week. I decided that since we can't afford a big vacation, that we would plan fun day trips. The kids and Jared are going to Texas for a week in August for his Grandfather's 90th surprise birthday party. I'll be back in school, so I won't be able to go:( So they do get to travel somewhere.
As for the day trips, this weekend we'll be going to zoo (Maddie won 4 tickets at the library) and then on Sunday we'll go to Presque Isle State Park for a day at the beach. Jared is on call, so we have to stay in this area.
The next weekend, we are going to take a day trip to Niagara Falls. I realized that the kids have never been there and they are at the perfect age to enjoy and handle such a big day. You can get a "Discovery pass" that gives you access to Maid of the Mist, Cave of the Winds, Discovery Center, Aquarium of Niagara, and the Imax theater. And they light up the falls after the sunsets. It's only about a 3hours drive from our house. I can't wait:)
As far as p90x goes. Last week, I only completed 3/6 assigned workouts. Mind you, that is still 5 hours of working out and way more than I was doing before I started, but I was disappointed. So I decided to repeat week 3. It is Friday and I have only completed 2 workouts:( I have been sleeping in too late and then running with the kids all week. By we are home and I get them to bed, it has been close to 10pm and I'm beat. Excuses, excuses. I know. I need some motivation to get going again. I had great results the first two weeks, that should be enough motivation!!
The lack of routine in the summer drives me crazy. I'm always happy to see the school year begin again.
