I started writing this on tuesday.... it's now friday and I finally got around to finishing it...
Last weekend was pretty good.
I went to KC early thursday morning where I dropped in on a class at the dance studio I used to dance at. It took my old teacher about 40 min. to notice that I was there and that I wasn't just another parent standing out in the waiting area. Once she noticed it was me she got really excited and kept trying to talk to me through the windows seperating the class from the waiting area. I stayed after the class was over and talked to her and her daughter who just graduated from UMKC for about 30 min.
Then I joined my mom in picking up family from all over the country at the airport with my mom. We went up to northern MO where the nearest Wal-mart is 30 miles away. Sounds like it would suck right but I had the greates time with my family. The reason we all got together was for the memorial for my two great uncles who died in Dec (one Dec 2 the other Dec 15). They were my grandfather's brothers and they both led amazing lives (one was buried alive in one of the biggest battles in WWII but dug himself out, the other would jump on trains and work his way acrosss the country during the depression just because he loved to travel). It was hard to say goodbye but the ceremony (apart from the twenty one gun salute and taps) was kept very happy and was more of a celebrating life than mourning death). Afterward I headed to Cottey for graduation.
Graduation was cool, Jean Carnahan was the speaker which to me is even more incredible than the VP of AP who spoke last year. Cottey gets the most amazing speakers for graduation. I got to see a lot of my friends and former teachers which was most enjoyable. We spent the rest of the day helping a friend pack and then driving home. It's hard knowing I'll never see some of thse people again... just like I'll never see many of my seniors and many of my classmates again. At least we all know we will never forget each other.
