There are two new additions to the writing/directing ranks of Heroes: Origins, the upcoming spin-off. Eli Roth, the director of Hostel 1 & 2, will be directing an episode. And Michael Dougherty, co-writer of Superman Returns and X2: X-Men United will be writing an episode. They of course join previously announced Kevin Smith on the spin-off. Whether Origins will be shown during the winter hiatus or after the end of the second season is still unknown.

All five parts of the Takezo Kensei: Sword Saint documentary are out. It deals with the legend of Takezo Kensei, and shows you exactly what Hiro has screwed up!!

The Emmys were not kind to Heroes... or Lost for that matter. They seemed to be giving the final nod to The Sopranos as they leave television. Heroes did managed to snag the People's Choice award, as well as a few smaller awards. We hope that next year they will do better. There's always the Golden Globes.

Many of the cast and crew were present at the Emmys, including Leonard Roberts (DL Hawkins). The intangible character on screen seems to have been intangible all summer. He hasn't been seen at any summer events, most pointedly Comic Con, and he hasn't been seen in any previews for upcoming episodes this season. His character was in bad physical condition at the finale last season, but the online graphic novels had suggested that he was pulling through all right. What's going on with DL? I really couldn't tell you. But, it seems like he's getting a silent cut.

Titan Magazine will be coming out with a Heroes magazine soon. (And that's all I have to say about that...)

Scripted or Accident? In the first episode this season, we witnessed the fake Kensei fall off his horse. While this is comical, sure, was it meant to happen? There were reports of an accident during filming. Was this it, and they decided to keep it in?

We will be seeing a new "Hero" by the name of Elle. She is said to have an "electrifying" power. And, while we don't really need to be told this, it seems that she is partially responsible for Peter's current predicament. Well, at least we know where he got that power.

Harry Potter News

The Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix DVD will be out December 11. Just in time for Christmas! Although, fans are speculating that the date will change quickly, since the UK release is quite a bit earlier (November 12). Once the downloading starts, I'm sure the DVD will be in stores quite a bit earlier.

The Harry Potter franchise has beaten Star Wars and James Bond! Without the whole series even on film, yet, the HP franchise has made more money than both the popular and universally known franchises. Although, skeptics point out that the cost of going to the movies has increased exponentially, I must point out that Harry Potter has 5 movies, and James Bond has over 20!

Other Geek News
The fourth Indiana Jones movie is in production. While we don't really know much about it yet, we now have a title! Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull. I don't know how I feel about the title, but it reminds me of an episode of Stargate SG-1...

Blood Ties is a series based off the Tanya Huff Vicki Nelson books. Most people haven't heard of it, but it is well worth the watch. What might scare most people away is that it is on Lifetime. We all know this channel has a history of being anti-male. But, this show does not fit their normal fair. Any man who has had a chance to see it has declared a disbelief at being a Lifetime show. It is well received. And if you like The Dresden Files, you'll like this. In fact, it was so similar to Dresden that the Scifi channel couldn't rationally except it.

The show is about a former cop turned P.I. named Vicki Nelson. Her first case had her crossing paths with vampire and historical noble Henry Fitzroy. The best parts of the show have Henry butting heads with Vicki's former partner and boyfriend Detective Mike Celluci. Flash Gordon viewers will recognize the actress who plays Vicki's assistant, Coreen.

The show is made in Canada with a Canadian crew and cast, based on books by a Canadian and also set in Canada. However, America got to see the first half of the season first! Canada is currently catching up to us, and will be running with us for the second half of the season. The 13th episode begins on October 12 at 11pm.
