There will always be a ship named Prometheus. In my opinion, a bad name, considering what happened to the first one!
Babylon 5
This one certainly brought fire to the humans.
Battlestar Galactica
If you don't recall this ship, it was from that horrid "Black Market" episode. I'm telling you, this is a bad name for a ship!
Star Trek
These people named a whole class of ships after him!
Stargate
Not only was this ship quickly outclassed by the Daedalus class ship, but one could argue that it was taken out by the gods!
Real Life
I found this on Wikipedia. A repair ship that was in service for both World Wars. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/USS_Prometheus_%28AR-3%29
There was also a brig in the early 1800s. Of course, there's no picture of it.
I think there is only one name that could be worse for any flying vehicle, and that's Icarus.
