Healthcare.gov, I smite you!

Healthcare.gov: Congratulations! Your children qualify for CHIP!
Me: *checking income guidelines* Actually, I don't think they do. We're a couple hundred over the limit. I'll just keep them on our insurance plan.
Healthcare.gov: No.
Me: What?
Healthcare.gov: They qualify for CHIP!
Me: They really don't . . .
Healthcare.gov: We've removed them from your current insurance plan and blocked you from adding them to your new plan. Hope they don't get sick!
Me: 🙁

This happened last year, too. Exact same thing. Eventually --in late January or early February, maybe?-- the government told us very soberly that our CHIP application had been denied and we should put our kids on our insurance. I assume the same thing will happen this year.

Seriously, though, what if in the paper-shuffling interim something happens to the kids and we don't have insurance for them because the government refuses to allow us to insure our children? I know that problems happen in systems when you hang around the edges of tiers (eligible/not eligible), but this seems to me a problem that ought to be fixed sooner rather than a-year-later-and-no-progress. 😕

i just want my kids insured, children, frustration, health care
