So, I've been absent a bit, dealing with depression (what else is new?). More on that later. It's been a depressing week, hasn't it? Just awful, what's happened in Paris. It reminds me of the end of the watchful peace in LOTR and the beginning of darkness encroaching on the world . . . but it doesn't surprise me, sadly. Mankind has been doing atrocious things to each other since the world began, and if we think humans have evolved, we're sadly mistaken. :(
I've also been overloaded with editing (what else is new?). I had a rush job to get in yesterday---chapters for the Clinical Virology Manual, a volume on microbiology for virologists. Now, I do love me some good infectious disease stuff---remember I'm always wanting Frodo and Aragorn to come down with everything under the sun---but this was a challenge and presented a learning curve. It's light editing, and the production editor said today that the chapters looked good, so I'm feeling more confident.
Anyway, I'll post more of an update tomorrow. For now, I have to report something funny, to lighten up my LJ's mood of late.

Anyway... I was watching my local news when they featured a story about a woman who was caught shoplifting here in town at a local grocery store. She stole two lobster tails---one she hid in her bag, and the other she hid between her legs---I'm guessing in her underwear.
The anchorman on the station had to keep both hands clapped over his mouth because he was about to lose it and bust a gut. The anchorwoman was so about to lose it that she actually GOT UP in the middle of the newscast and left. I've never seen that before on our news station!
My youngest brother worked at a Woolco (like today's Wal-Mart) when he was in high school, and he saw a woman caught for shoplifting after she walked out of the store with a TV set between her legs. Yes, a TELEVISION set. It was hidden under her skirt. :O
