The new day was a great big fish.

You know, it's not very often in a person's lifetime that she can go to bed certain that the world is actually different than it was when she got up that morning. It is even more rare that she is sure that the change which has taken place is for the better. What an amazing time to be alive!
Hope in itself isn't change, but no change can take place without hope.
And there are so few cases anymore where a person can say, "I was the first to do it."
It happened, it really, actually did! Did I cry tonight? A little bit, yes. Am I waking up smiling in the morning? Absolutely.
And to cap it all off, my state-- my state-- actually went blue. For the first time since I could vote, my vote counted.
