Super Bad Crappy Day
I was out from work yesterday for a conference and so my school hired a sub to teach in my place. Well, when I get back today I find out that the sub left NOTHING for me. No notes on how my students had been, no work from the students, nothing. To make it worse one of my desks was vandalized with gang graffitti and so I have no idea who did it because I have no note. You wouldn't think this was any worse right? Wrong! During 1st period, one of my students (who has serious issues with me, school, home and everything in between) started shooting BB's at the other kids and the sub. When the sub asked who it was about 5 of my kids identified the kid who was shooting BB's but the sub was like a jillion years old so he kept asking. Well, I have a really great, honest, trustworthy kid who did the right thing and said who the student was that was shooting BBs and that student was sent out of the room. At the end of the period, as my honest kid was leaving, the BB kid tells him to never snitch on him again and punches him in the face over 10 times. My honest kid didn't fight back so it was battery and the BB kid was cuffed and arrested and is suspended for 5 days. I just feel so bad because my honest kid is one of my favorites (I know I'm not supposed to have favorites but he's just a really awesome kid)and he got hurt for doing the right thing.. twice!
My sub was just awful though! Apparently he told my kids to shut up, went to sleep in class and left the students alone for over 10 minutes! When I complained to admin. they said they were just out of subs and so stuck a warm body in there. That makes me soooo frustrated.
I've felt crummy and lousy all day and my stomach hurts. I want to cry everything I think about my honest kid getting punched. He lives with his grandparents and I just called them to tell them how proud I was of him. I think I'm way more upset that either the kid or his grandparents are!
