This 50,000 word business is not working for me either. I'm over 7,000 words and I discovered that I am doing a 1000 words a day upon average. Granted I'm running down the so-called writers block by keeping my fingers on the keyboard typing regardless if that's the direction my inner editor wants to go or not. At this rate, I'll have 30,000 words done by the end of the month. I'm wondering how I'm going to squeeze in an extra 20,000 words on the weekends.
Bear in mind, 50,000 words is not even the average length of the average novel. If, and I mean if I do manage to get 50,000 words I wonder where I'll be in my story. In the middle? Near the end? Worst, still locked up on the beginning introducing yet another character? This shall truly be my Magnum Ovaries. ; )
Don't be discouraged, Honey. Janet has the right of it below. We have a lot of month left plus the extra time off for Thanksgiving. I know you can do it! As for the other part...it doesn't matter where you'll be in the story at this point all that matters is the magic number! Thanks for doing this with me!
I started off great, but didn't have other evening committments. This week has been bad for meetings and such. My wrists aren't happy either---carpal. I am still full of ideas, but I have to put school and town business first. There is still alot of month left and thanksgiving vacation, too. We aren't traveling. Don't give up yet.
Thanks for the pep talk. :) I am not giving up! I will see this through to the end. I am enjoying writing. Having a deadline like this forces me to keep forging ahead and I have to fight my inner critic that keeps wanting to go back and edit and rewrite everything.
