Somewhere before the screams there were other sounds.
At one point prior to the fear, things were magical.
For a minute there was laughter, a heartbeat before that there had been the low notes of a bawdy song. Everywhere things had hummed to their own tune.
One that fit with the others. Till it went off key.
But in Harry’s memories he heard, echoing behind the noises that followed, the sweet sound of Lily’s lullabies.
