(sigh) I have been consolidating student loans this morning. I am tired, now. It's beautiful outside, though, for a mid-January day. I was going to fix myself a couple of eggs, but I am leaving to meet Mark for lunch in less than an hour so I guess I will wait. The best thing happened yesterday! I was teaching my 8-9-year-olds and I thought, "Why don't we use some different music for fun?" I need to be getting ideas for their demonstration in May anyway. I put "Hamburger Train" by Primus on and taught them a very simple jete combination. I explained that is was in a six, not an eight or a four, and taught them how to keep the combination going with two groups taking turns from the back. They were doing it, and I heard a few say quietly, "I like this music..." to each other. Then, they were getting the hang of it, so I asked them to reverse it, coming from the front of the room. They did it a few times as I counted out loud. I stopped counting and was getting up to turn off the music, and about five girls, yelled "1-" and everyone else jumped in on, "2-." They counted out loud, altogether, doing jetes and assembles in groups of two until the song was over, right at the end of class. It's an 8-minute song! They were having so much fun doing it, too! I got up twice to see how long they had been going and they kept going while they yelled, "No! Don't stop it!" When the song was finished they were sad and all red and sweaty, and I said, "Guys, class is over...thank you so much! That was so much fun!" and they all ran up to give me a group hug. On their way out, my next class was coming in saying, "We could hear you out there. What was going on?" One of the girls said her mom asked her, "What are they doing in there?" so she got up to peek in the door and reported that we were, indeed, doing ballet to that music. They are all 10-11 years old. The 8-9-year-olds were begging me to make the next class do it, too. They want to do it again next week. The older class wasn't having nearly the fun that the first class had. That first class was having a blast, though. I kept looking at them and saying, "Aren't you tired, yet?" and they would say, "No! No...2-3-..." I felt that I had finally taught that class to have fun in ballet. That was all I really wanted, so I feel pretty good! They were so precious.
We may move. Mark is talking to an apartment locator today that I talked to yesterday. It looks like it might be cheaper to move than to stay. We'll see...The maintenance guys (Dane [sp?] and Daniel) said, "Hi!" to Jairo today when I put in a service request. Our kitchen sink is leaking underneath. :(
