Every time I have wanted to sit down and write in my journal I became occupied with something else. I remember back in the days the time it would take to write out every journal entry and how long it would take me. So here I am trying to cram nearly a months worth of writing into a free evening. I've been busy with life, being social, being out, being bold and free... and it feels good to be alive.
Catching up on nearly a months worth of material here in some sort of chronological order:
Before I was sick with the stomach flu, actually more at the beginning of my stomach flu I (in much pain) actually went and saw Stone Temple Pilots in concert. Damn that was back in February. The concert that I went to was at the Fox Pomona theater and that venue is beautiful! The concert itself was sold out and I thought paying $65 was worth it. I managed to survive on the floor, snap a few good photos and sing my heart out. I think the most memorable moment was when Scott had his son come out dressed as mini Justin Biber (he said, "Hey little biber...." so adorable) and he started off the song, "Dead and Bloated". I hope they don't break up and they manage to put out a new album. I really do love this band.

I saw Yann Tiersen in Concert and it was phenomenal. I wish I could have caught him at the start of the tour at the CSULA show, but no regrets. The experience I had was enjoyable. I love his music and his energy. I managed to spend some time chatting up with the merch guy, his french accent, dirty brown hair and bright blue eyes was the icing on the cake that ended the evening. I look forward to when I can see them perform again
I did 6am drinking for the first time on St. Patricks day. I can write that one off on my bucket list. We went for my friend MIke's birthday and I spent part of the morning drinking, hanging with friends and the evening drinking. I'm sure in the future I'll do it again... or not. Hah.
I went to the Puka Bar on an online date, but also to see the place before it closed. I went on a date with someone off of OKC and it was interesting. Haven't really talked to the guy again so perhaps he wasn't all that interested in me? Either way it was a great opportunity to see the end of the Puka Bar. I'm really sad that the place has been sold off and is now going to become a bikini bar (whut?).
I devoted about a week and a half of my life knitting a baby blanket for my friend Marty Lush (and his baby girl). For a while my time was consumed with knitting and I managed to finish the blanket during that time. I used a soft baby yarn in a pastel green and yellow because I didn't want to do blue or pink. It ended up looking like a pineapple!
I biked 15 miles (7.5 mile route) for CicLAVia through downtown los angeles. I had so much fun riding through down town los angeles with thousands of people. It was quite the experience and a lot of fun. I could see myself being able to train to do much longer rides I think... as long as I am safe. I did see quite a few people get hurt because it was a bit crowded, but I hope that they are all okay. The next CicLAVia is on my birthday... I kind of want to have a birthday ride though I'm not sure who would actually want to go. I also kind of have some funny shaped tan spots (from being sunburned).
I went on a weekend Tiki Camping trip and had a great time. It was a tiki camping event that happened out in Newberry Springs on private property. I had a good time, with great friends, good food, great music, tiki things, and lots of booze. I bought the mug and a small painting by Ken Ruzic. I don't know how I feel about another event at the same location occuring in October.
Also I've been pretty active with horn playing and have kept up playing with the Burbank Community Band. It's been pretty awesome. James (a horn player who went to trombone) came up to me during one rehearsal and said that I sounded great and help make the horn section sound really nice. It was quite flattering to me... considering how long I've been out of practice.
Last week Monday I experienced some new things. I went with Sheyne to a Yoga Stretch class. I also then proceeded to do a double spin class with Terry (one of the hardest instructors), and then be the rabbit during Eddie's class. The rabbit bike... is god damn hard. I swear you work even harder than you normally do and the air circulation blows. Leslie introduced me to these new gel packets, and I'm going to have to stock up on them now. They help with the muscle soreness and it's useful to have to keep the body going. Apparently though I was rocking it during Eddies class only because at the end of class so many of my peers came up to me and said, "You made it look so easy!" and "You worked us hard!" I really love all the positive energy that my spin community gives to me.
Last week Wednesday I was at the Colburn school for an open mass horn choir. Supposedly it was open to all levels, but when you're with a mass group of Colburn school students... man did that suck. It made me realize that I have to set some new goals now before the upcoming International Horn Symposium (such as reading bass clef) and working on my range a bit more. The high Fs are slowly but surely reestablishing itself and I'd love if I could be able to play high Gs. I had a lot of fun but I think it was mainly because I was challenged. I feel bad that James didn't feel the same way though... he felt like the horn choir was completely out of his league and didn't feel comfortable at all. Boo.
This past weekend I went to the Ren Faire with one of my Doms. I had a good time and a lot of fun but damn was that day exhausting. Yesterday I met up with Ken since he's in town to catch up on life. We managed to go to Bottega Louie for dinner, swing by the Cicada club to show the venue to him, have drinks at Seven Grand (the cute Japanese bartender cut all of his dreads off!), and ended at Fred 62. Let me just say I slept like a log last night.
Today I spent most of the day with Ken again. He wanted to check out the fashion district, so I showed him around and we managed to wander Santee Alley. This was the first time I have ever wandered through the entire length of Santee Alley. We managed to find a nice Polynesian accessories store so I stocked up on some good Tiki appropriate accessories. After our afternoon at the fashion district, we had lunch at Chado's which was very nice. I had the chance to try their (Chado's) Afternoon Tea blend which was very nicely balanced and tasted great with milk.
Finally... after upload mass amounts of photos from my iphone to flickr, doing a double spin class this evening and cooking kimchee chicken fried rice and writing in this journal, I'm super pooped. It's time for bed. There are other things that I want to write about with what has been going on in my life, but I think they deserve separate individual posts. Until then. It's bed time.
