So, I'm finally back in Yasothon, where it looks like I will stay for the next 3 weeks. The plan is I'm to work at a primary school to help teach english here with a teacher. Should be fun, after working with kids for the past 5 days, I've really grown to love it.
Leaving Ubon was wonderful and sad. I received several drawings of me from various students, as well as letters and pictures from a lot of them as well. Of course, all of them said "I love you P'Tang Mo!" (which means, Older Sister Watermelon.) At the final concert/activity thing, this group of boys had a sign that said WE LOVE YOU P'TANG MO with a huge heart. I ended up giving a lot of my bracelets away, so you'll see me return with only a few instead of my normal ass-load.
This morning, as my mother was leaving the house, we saw a snake in our mini foyer. We jumped back inside the house and screamed, and I haven't really left the living room since. It's not that I'm scared of snakes, so much as the sudden appeareance of it. Anything spontaneously frightening scares me more than the thing itself. For example, I remember playing some sort of grammar game where you had to go around this deserted school (which was perfectly well lit), but a bunch of robots would come out of NO WHERE and get you. It was the scariest thing I've ever done in my life. It's also why I can't play a lot of computer or playstation games, because people are always popping out of no where trying to kill me (KK, do you remember those times at my house in Japan where you'd come over and play James Bond for me, and I'd just sit next to you and scream?)
That's it for now, will update when I visit my worksite!
