whitewater rafting!!!
On Saturday and Sunday, I went whitewater rafting at Kernville with my sister and her friends! It's soooo awesome! You guys should definitely try it some day! Ok, let me tell you guys about my weekend now.
Saturday:
There were 14 of us total who went. We met at my sister's friend Diana's house, who planned the trip, and we left her house at around 9 and got there around 12:30 maybe? We weren't going rafting until Sunday so we stopped by at Lake Isabella and had lunch. Then we rented two jetskis, but I didn't go on them. Instead, I fell asleep on the dock. heh heh
After everyone was done rafting, we checked into our motel, showered, then went to downtown Kern Valley and ate at this Italian restaurant for dinner. Then everyone met in our room (we were split up into 4 rooms) and played Taboo. Well, we got too loud and the next door was banging the wall so we went to sleep.
Sunday:
Left around 7:30 and got to Whitewater Voyages. We had to change into wetsuits and got on the bus that took us to the river. When we got there, we had to carry the rafts to the river and before we actually rafted, our main guide was telling us safety precautions that totally freaked me out. He was saying how when people fall into the river, they get panadomium through the shock and coldness of the water, and we don't know what's going on and can't breath and stuff. And then he said how there are holes or something, where the water flows the opposite way, so if you get caught in that, you just go in a circle under the water, then flow back up, then go down again and just keeps going. Then he said sometimes trees fall down into the water, and if your foot gets caught, you just get dragged down because of the flow of the water, and you can't get your foot out because of the pressure. Freaked me out so much!!! I told my sister I was going to die.
Ok, after, seven of us went on the raft with our guide (there were 4) Felipe, and the first rapid was so scary cause it was the first one and I never did anything like that before. But it was soooo fun after we kept going. We went down the river 3 times, but kinda different sides of the river with different stuff each time. And our guide was so cool, he brought us to the scarier, but more fun, parts, but the other guides didn't. And ours was the only raft who didn't have anyone fall in! yay! I kept hitting the person in front of me with my paddle...heh heh... Oh yeah, we went on class II, III, and IV rapids, if you guys know what I'm talking about. I think that it ranges from I-V.
Oh, my sister's guy friends are so weird... When we stopped for lunch, they finished eating and were throwing rocks at each other for fun, to see if they could hit each other...very weird people...
The aftermath:
I have this nasty t-shirt tan from Saturday!!!!! And my ears got sunburned!! Especially my left one, probably because I fell asleep on the dock and my left side was facing the sun... Yeah, my ear hurts and it's starting to peel already. Gross... And I'm sore all over. But I still want to go again! SO FUN!!
You guys should definitely go!!!!! IT'S SOOOOOOOOOOOOO AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Oh, and I have pictures but they're not developed yet, so I'll post as soon as I get them.
