Reflection

I know I've been AWFUL about writing in here. But I'm still trying to discern for myself what I want this to be, and I'm not completely sure I want to keep it. But for now it's nice to have.

Anyway, I read NY Magazine's "Why I Love NY" issue, and it made me think about the things in my life that I love. And I mean, aside from the obvious. I love my family. Adam. My best friends. But there are moments, actions, and things that I am utterly in love with.

I love...
...the way I feel when I'm out with a big group of friends and everyone is having the time of their lives. I love that my friends and I have the most fun no matter where we are or what we're doing.
...that no matter how big my family gets, they're still the most fun people to be around.
...still having a fabulous friendship with J2KL like we were all just in hs yesterday. I love that THEY grew up, we all realized that our friendship meant more to us than dumb drama, and we got over it. I love going back to the OC to spend time with them, because even though we've all changed immensely, we're all still very much the same.
...that I finally decided that I don't need people in my life just to say they're there. That I don't need to be fake anymore and pretend like I like people when I know for certain that they're not good friends.
...walking around my little "city outside the city". I love the winter time here; the snowflake lights on the street signs, the chilly air on a walk home from Mamaroneck, the fact that I don't have to shovel OR clean off the car when we leave the apartment. I love seeing bands at Vintage, weekend breakfasts at Starbucks, and manicures down the street. I love spa days at the Westchester. I love taking naps on my couch with my fleece blanket and waking up to the lights outside my "big city house".
...walking around the city with Adam and finding cute little places to eat or drink. I love Pinkberry dates, Knicks games, subway rides when I make friends with the most random of people, mac and cheese at Coffee Shop, bagels from Dizzy Izzy, the Ebony Hillbillies on Fridays at the shuttle, atomic wings at the Blue Room, Wednesdays at Turtle Bay, free pizza at Naples 45, summer nights at Bryant Park, pet a manager, walking 10 blocks for street meat and not caring about catching a train. I love watching the sun rise in Sty Town after running down 10 unnecessary flights of stairs to find a camera. I love making new friends and catching up with old ones, and the fact that all of it can be done in one place at one time. I love the craziness and the calmness of it all.
