that was the name of this year's synchronized swimming watershow. It wasn't the best ever, since we didn't have access to the pool for half of the school year. But it was my first year on the team and it was a lot of fun. All of the girls I got to work with are really nice and I made new friends. I really liked getting coached by Brianne Cross, who is also president of Canturberry Club. Thats the church club that I go to every Wednesday at Mt. Mathews Episcopal Church where my granparents go to on Sundays. Earlier this sememster the group went to this thing near Georgia called Vocare. That was a really weird chrurch retreat, where we just did talking about what God calls us to do in life and church rituals all day and they even had us take a vow of silence the first day. So I didn't really make any friends since I couldn't talk a lot of the time. I think that people that do this usually want to enter seminary someday perhaps. The routine that Brianne coached us on was to a disco version of Beethoven's 5th. Kate, Tiffany, and Michelle where in the routine with me. I think it was one of the best in the show. And at the end, I get tossed by them since I am the smallest. They practiced throwing me a lot, and we had it down really good for a while, so that I went really high. But then the week of rehersals, Michelle who is in Vollyball together with Kate, got flipped over Kate's head by accident and hurt her ankle really bad. Michelle still swam with the injury but had to wear a brace, and couldn't do the deckwork well. Kate felt really bad for injuring her, because she used to be a wrestler and hadn't meant to flip her at all. But my friends here at school: Sharon, Kristina, and Nora came to see the opening show on Thursday night. Then Friday Elizabeth and Salley drove down from North Carolina to see me, and even spent the night at Converse. And Saturday was the last show. That was when my mom and sister, Rachel, came with my Grandma to watch me swim. I think that was the best night of the show, although a lot of other people on the team think it was best the first night.
And last week were tryouts for Advanced team for next year. I am an apprentice synchro team member now since it was my first year. I made advanced team, which means next year I will get to do a duet routine with someone, and I will also have to assist in coaching an apprentice group and helpcoragraph their routine, like Brianne did this year. I am really excited about doing a duet next year. And I was able to tryout for Competition team since I made advanced. That team is only 6 girls, with four that swim together, and two alternates that compete in smaller routines when they go to the compettiions in Florida and Georgia. There are only 3 open spots for next year. Maybe two on the main team if one girl doesn't come back, and they will need the 2 alternates. They don't have to fill those spots untill the tryouts again in the Fall next year. And I'm so excited about next school year already. We have a whole two weeks left now when most of my friends at other schools are already finishing exams. And I just want this year to end. Next year I will be living with all four of my best friends in the same suite that I was in this year. It's going to be so fun! And next Janurary term we are palnning to all do study abroad in London for the month. I can't wait for that, England is so hott! and I will be done with my GEP classes. I'm including a picture of the future Belk 106 from the Inauguration of Converse College's new president, Betsy Flemming that was on Founders Day a week ago. I'm sorry I have been so slack about updating this.
