so lately for some reason music is taken over my thoughts...more than usual. i suppose its choir & my frustration with people who do not know dynamics. sure, they know that p means you have to sing soft (yes, this is the extent of their knowledge) but they dont do it. it was amidst this frustration that i realized it is not the actual singing softly that brings movement to the piece, it is the change from loud to soft, soft to loud. the pace in which a musician changes his/her dynamics sets the mood for the piece. for ex: the hungarianish(i know its not a word but work w/me) song we are learning jumps from forte to piano constantly and rapidly and unless it is done quickly the message will not come across as vividly. this is just a little thing that popped into my head one day and though i may be late on my revelation, it makes me feel happy....so let me enjoy my little moment & then you can tell me 1. that you figured this out when you were 7 or 2. that i am talking absolute nonsense. :-D
kris, this is for you...haha :-D...
