Years ago, I told myself I wanted to see certain bands before I died.
These were (in alphabetical order):
Sarah Brightman
Coldplay
Eve 6
Korn
Nine Inch Nails
Tool
Sarah Brightman because she really is THE angel of music. Her voice is incredible. Since Doug introduced me to her music, I had wanted to experience her amazing voice first hand. I got just the opportunity...twice. The second time really was the concert of a lifetime. We sat inside the stage, and the curtain closed us in. Amazing show. I saw her twice in 2004.
Coldplay simply because I love them. Their music stuck out to me. It was more than just a fad. I sometimes understand how people can get upset when music goers only flock towards popular music. However, even if Coldplay only had 2 fans in the world, I would still adore them. I got the wonderful opportunity to see them twice, and neither times did they disappoint. They are the real deal. I saw them in August 2005, and February 2006.
Eve 6 because they were my introduction to rock. Without them...who knows where I would be. I saw them in July 2001.
Korn because they started my transition beyond Eve 6 into the current genre I adore. They represented much of my young teen years, and I wanted to see them for the chance to fulfill my wish from a teenager. I saw them in July 2002.
Nine Inch Nails because they are (or I should say WERE, now) my favorite band. My journey with NIN was a long one, and the respect I have for Trent is amazing. Wonderful band, and seeing them FRONT ROW twice in a row was truly the experience of a lifetime. I saw them twice in May 2005, and once in October 2005.
And finally...Tool. This concert surpassed all others I have ever been to. Seeing Maynard and Co. (MAJOR props to Danny) was the experience of a lifetime. They blew me the fuck away. They play the music of the gods. I would love to say hands down, the best concert I've been to. Ever.
As you can probably tell, I have finally completed my list. I have seen everyone I have set out to see in my life. I doubt there will be a band that could come along at this point that would be worthy of my list. But, for now, I would die feeling complete.
JP on Friday...no fucking way.
