Room 328, Pre-Prom

Apr 25, 2008 20:41

It was a good thing she'd had all day to prepare for this, her senior prom. Sam had once again been banished while she got dressed, and there'd been a couple of "how do I do this" calls to her sister (mostly involving how to get her hair to stay where she put it. Finally, that was done and her make-up was on, she'd put on her shoes and was ( Read more... )

Meg had forgotten something out of Dean's room and was on her way back downstairs so she could finish getting dressed in her own room when she spotted Dawn. She was also dressed in a bathrobe. Can't have anyone accidentally seeing her dress before she was ready after all.

"Hey Dawn," she said. "What's wrong?"

"Meg!" Oh, thank god. "Do you have a few minutes, or are you all busy getting ready? Because I kinda need some help getting dressed. There's, like, laces, and I can't hold it up and tighten it at the same time. I'll zip you if you need it?"

"I've got time. I just need to throw on my shoes and some lipstick which will only take, like, five seconds," she said. "I can totally help."

Though by the way Dawn was describing the dress it sounded like she was going to prom dressed like a dominatrix. Not that there was anything wrong with that.

"Thank you! What does your dress look like?" She asked, holding the door open and getting out of the way so Meg could come in, her skirt swishing as she walked. Walked very slowly, incidentally. There were heels and a hem involved, and she wanted to be perfect when Sam saw her.

"It's over here," she pointed out the top on the bed, in case Meg couldn't see it amidst all the stuff she'd kind of tossed there as she was getting ready. "I'm so bad at the girl stuff. Buffy almost hung up on me last time I called."

"Well, you're in luck because I'm actually pretty good at girl stuff," she said. And since she was already wearing her dress under her bathrobe she just decided to show Dawn what her dress looked like. She undid her robe and held it in her hand as she showed Dawn her dress.

"Now the front is kind of plain, I know," she said. Then she twirled around. "But I totally bought it for the back."

"Oh, wow, that's a great color on you!" Not that she was jealous that Meg could wear that red without looking like a corpse or anything. "Has Dean seen--nevermind, silly question. If he'd seen the back, you wouldn't be here helping me," she said, giggling.

"Don't worry. I've already warned him to behave himself. Until after the dance anyways," Meg said, grinning. She looked over at top part of Dawn's dress. "So you ready to do this?"

She's helped Madison in a dress like that before. It took some time and a lot of Meg telling Madison that breathing was overrated.

"Uh huh," she said, sliding the bodice over her head and wiggling into it with her back turned to Meg. Once she had it where she wanted it, she dropped the robe completely. "You really think that behaving thing's going to work?"

"Not a chance," Meg said, walking over towards Dawn so she could get a closer look at how the bodice tied. Yep, she had definitely done this before. Good thing too. She would hate to mess up. "If he looks too good in his suit we might not make it out of the room."

"There's more than one reason Sam has to get dressed in a room that's not here," she said giggling. "We didn't even make it to Homecoming. Silly extra-handsome Winchesters."

Meg sighed dramatically. "I know. It's not their fault. But considering this is senior prom we should make an effort to at least try to show up."

"Especially if we're really going to try out that dancing thing." Dawn grinned mischievously over her shoulder. "Or you could just let all the guys see your back and have Dean follow you out there so no one else gets any ideas."

Meg laughed and started tying up the laces on the dress. "Let me know if it's too tight. Fainting is not a good look on anybody."

Dawn took a deep breath in as she felt the top start to tighten. "No, but neither is flashing half the school."

"Well, the upside is you'd end up with your own page in the yearbook either way," Meg joked as she continued to tie. "You know if you tell Sam or Dean that I helped you put your dress on their eyes are going to fall out of their head, right?"

"Yeah, not so much with the explaining to Buffy," Dawn exhaled as she felt the top actually tighten enough that it would stay in place, still smirking. "I'm sure I have no idea what you're talking about. Sam and Dean wouldn't care that you were tying me into a restrictive piece of clothing."
