(no subject)
Well Christmas is over in less than an hour :( I'm glad I have my birthday to look forward to afterwards. Makes things better haha. My mom's side of the family...Uncle Pete and his wife and late 20's yr old, Uncle Bill and 2 kids, Auntie Theresa and her husband, and my brother and sister-n-law...came over xmas eve for tons of appetizers and desserts. Instead of the typical secret santa we usually do, each of us put together a bag of edible goodies. We then pulled a number from a hat and #1 went first, picking any bag from the middle of the room, opened and displayed what was inside. #2 could either take what #1 got or they could pick a new bag. It went on and on. #12 had it best b/c they could pick whatever they wanted since they could pick the last bag in the middle or #1-#11's bag. It went on for a while and was funny b/c the last person stole someone else's bag. The victim then stole someone's bag, and it kept goin on until someone decided to take the bag from the middle. We ended up playing a card game, having a cherry pucker shot, and all the 'kids' (me and my cousins" played ASAP a question game. It was a lot of fun just hanging out with everyone all night. Everyone was gone around 11:15pm so then I finished wrapping presents and filled them up under the tree.
This morning Santa showed to be very nice :) The tree looked so pretty with all the presents underneath. A picture will be on facebook. I got a nice foldable dolly thing that I can bring back and forth to school and stack things on it and store it under my bed very nicely. I also got some clothes (I especially love the white puffy vest with a detachable hood with fur on the edge), jewelry, an awesome watch from my brother and Michelle thats pink and has rinestones? thats way cool, a Beatles hoody, Beatles cd, a musical jewelry box with a nice daughter poem on it, some headbands from Lisa, and she made me a scarf and hat that as Cubs "C" on it and the colors, that 20Q game where you think of an object and it guesses what you are thinking by asking 20 questions and you say yes, no, sometimes, or unknown if you can't answer the question, and some other stuff too. My dad made eggs benedict (way better than what you will find in any restaurant and I say that with confidence since we've tried and never have!) and we lounged around playing Zuma and talking. Around 5pm we went to my Nana's in North Chicago and had a delicious dinner with my dad's sister and her 3 kids. My aunt gave us a bag of little treats, and my Nana gave us all $50 to Kohls which was way too nice of her since there were so many of us. For my birthday she gave me $50 for Target. So I get to go shopping and not feel guilty! She is doing a lot better. Its still hard for her to get up from a chair sometimes, and she said she gets tired easily. But at least she can get around on her own and isn't in pain.
I've been home for a week today. I miss Chicago! I miss being with all my friends and always hanging out with them and studying (haha sometimes) and just going downtown or to the bars or the apartments... I love how there is soooo much to do downtown and everyone at school who lives there at least, feels like we're becoming a community, since I go to parties and see people i have classes with and such, or even just like the dorms and seeing the same people all the time. It is nice to sit around at home and do nothing however. Not that i've gotten to do much of that though. All week I worked at the daycare.
Monday I had to go back downtown to take a final at school around 10am and came back here to work at the daycare 12-4:45pm. Tuesday I went downtown for a doctor's appt and came back to work 12-4:30pm. Wednesday I was supposed to work 12-4:30 but I got called at 9am and asked to come in b/c one of the girls who works there; someone in her family got into a car accident and was in the hospital so she had to leave. So I worked 9:30-4:30pm. Then Thursday I asked to work in morning so I could get shopping done in the afternoon so I worked 7:15-11:15am. Friday I worked 12-5:30pm. When I wasn't working I was pretty much either shopping or sleeping. I was so tired this week...I think I went to bed by 10:30 or 11 most of the nights. Tuesday I went to Charlestown with Michelle and Noorah and got very little done b/c I couldn't find much. Then Michelle and I went to Borders.
So this guy came up to us and asked us if we thought the fish he was pointing to in a book was a big fish. It wasn't huge but it was big. A guy was holding it in front of his chest and it was wider than his body...maybe 2 feet long. I said I thought it was decent size, bigger than anything I ever caught, but I had heard of people catching bigger fish. Now this guy was about our age, maybe a little younger, and cute. ^_^ haha. He asked me what my biggest fish I caught was and I showed him with my arms. Michelle said she had never been fishing, or maybe once and he was like omg I can't believe you've never gone fishing. Now this whole time, we're feeling a lil awkward at this randomness. We ended up saying we were going to go find a magazine or something, and wished each other a good day, then I guess he was still looking over at us, so that was kinda cool, kinda weird, kinda funny lol.
Thursday Michelle and I met Noorah at Strattford after I worked for a long lunch and shopping. I got a little more done. I don't think we left until 5:45pm and then we got lost b/c we took a different road and got turned around. Driving back to St Charles and then back home took a bit. Friday we had the secret santa party at bens at niu. That was pretty fun. I would have drank more but I thought I would be driving Elyse and I back earlier than we did. Manny and Collen taught Heather and me the salsa and some other spanish dance. Collen had me for secret santa and drew me a portriat and got me a bartending book and some earrings. He did good and I was let in on the secret that elyse game him some help :-p I appreciate the gifts very much and have my portriat hanging in my room :)
Well I figured I would update and rather than try to talk about school and such I decided to start you off with my Christmas break.
