After missing out on Sakuracon 2010, I went back for this year, and this was Jessie's first year at the con... as well as Jeannia's first con experience. It was a convention/shopping weekend and it was exhausting, but in the end, fun.
Started early Thursday morning... headed down to the border. Man, my tiny little car just managed to fit all four suitcases for the weekend. It's times like this I miss Jocy's SUV. :( Border was uneventful, but it took about an hour before we were able to cross. On the way there, we saw a really cool motorcycle with a dog behind him, wearing goggles. Annie, if you still have the photo I WANT IT. XD
Stopped by the Factory outlet and powershopped for an hour, grabbed some food then HEADED TO DOWNTOWN SEATTLE, whoot. Made it there by around 4 pm, where we went to check in. Did a post-office stop first to mail some stuff and immediately went to grab our badges to try and avoid the crowd. Though really. Man, every single line we chose this weekend happened to be the slowest. Saw a lot of cosplays already on Thursday, including a Tuxedo Mask and a lot of video game Weskers, TF2s and other assorted loli's. FELT REALLY OLD. Split up with Annie at some point here.
Did take a photo of the most amazing Layton group! With Big and Little Luke!
And then we headed back to the hotel, then went shopping! Wandered into Betsey Johnson and left Jessie and Jeannia there, which. In hindsight probably was not a good idea. Yi and I wandered and hit up about 10 different stores by the time they were done, and they definitely left with two very large
pink bags.
Eventually headed to Cheesecake factory for Dinner, in which I promptly accidentally dumped a glass of water down my shirt (and more specifically down my cleavage)... with my shirt remaining dry. SOB. Had delicious cheesecake. Went back to the hotel and crashed. ... or watched terrible shows about invading bugs on tv, THEN crashed.
FRIDAY. Woken up ridiculously early cause someone forgot to turn their work alarm off. As in, up by 6:30. Rolled around in bed until closer to 8 though, in which we took turns using the washroom. ... Four girls in one bathroom leads to messes. Hur hur.
That's only about 2/3rd of all the stuff we brought with us.
It was actually a bit of a mess and decided on a better bathroom schedule on Saturday, since we didn't get out of the hotel room until closer to ten. Jessie and I wore our FF3 costumes, a bard and a devout.
Wandered around a lot, Jessie was the camera crazy one and went about taking lots of photos! Posting a few now, the rest will be up on my photobucket album:
The two grouchy dudes from the Muppets. :D They were amazing and gave us a stand up comedic act.
Green Lantern and SHEGO from Kim Possible.
The fortress Sniper~ complete with accurate accent, apparently.
Taking a bite out of the Gingerbread man.
Not a cosplay, but Jeannia and her outfit. She got more photos taken of her than Jessie and I. XD
Bioshock family. Afterwards I asked the kid if she wanted some candy.
PIXELLATED VINCENT.
Y'all Jealous I got a photo with the FUMOFFU Hamster.
And Ace Ventura, pet detective.
And Pie's RG Veda cosplay. :)
Following the dealers room debacle, we headed back to the hotel and changed out of our costume! And then opened the hotel room to find a complete stranger staring at us. It was Vincent, Hannah's BF, and he screamed "I'M WITH MIKE" as soon as he saw us. They just arrived and while they went to get their badges, we went to grab some late lunch. Had delicious Vietnamese Pho. Walked around downtown a bit to check out a few more shops, but then we went back to the convention and chilled with Mike, checked out the dealers room again. We tried to check up on some panels but they were all either too full or just. Really really awkward. SO WE once again retreated to the hotel to relax and shower. Until like. 10 pm when we realized we were all starving and we had food adventures and ice adventures. Ended up ordering food from the bar downstairs and eating with our hands, sitting on the floor of the hotel room. SO CLASSY!
SATURDAY: Couldn't sleep due to hotel bed and Mike snoring. And someone else snoring. And I guess some people heard it too, cause at some point I kept tossing and turning, and noticed Jessie doing the same. And all of a sudden we just started laughing at the snores, waking everyone else up. KIRABOSHI~ SATURDAY. Our big group cosplay. It took forever for us to get out of the hotel room, and I was anxious to see the Star Driver skit my friends were participating in. (Mostly cause Mike was sooooo vain. :) ) Mike was Head, Jessie our lovely Professor Green and I was in Manticore. We made it to the cosplay lineup real quickly, and almost immediately, was approached. But it was an unexpected approach. A lady was doing a panel for Fanime about bodysuits and wanted to know if she could take a photo of Jessie and use her as an example. XD We got in, grabbed seats, and then left again to find food. Because, RAWR, lack of breakfast makes Joan cranky! Saw a lot of novice skits, some were really good, others... not so much. Would have been more entertaining if it wasn't for the fact that the people sitting beside me were screaming ALL THE TIME. AND THEN MY FRIENDS KIRABOSHI'ed.

Our Takuto did a full Ginga Bishounen transformation onstage. Didn't win anything, but they were quite kickass.
Wandered out of the main stage afterwards, and then saw the most epic dragonball cosplay ever.
Then proceeded to wander around for a while until the unofficial Star Driver shoot by the artist alley. We walked into the dealers room and met a really cool Kneesocks, who was a big fan of the show and took photos of us.
Her entire shoot of Star Driver is
here: Including derpy shots of playing with our Takuto's golden star hair. :) FOLLOWING that, our friends dragged us along to take MORE photos, though those ones aren't up yet. WHAT IS up are the photos taken by EKB, which. Aurgh. I am both excited and kind of nervous since this is the first time I've cosplayed and posed for professional shots, so. Haha, MY POSES are kind of terrible and I wish got photos taken of me without my mask and AHHH SELF-CONSCIOUSNESS is rising but they are really fucking excellent shots.
gallery is here, and a group shot of us includes:
So.. yeay. headed back to the hotel after this to change out. And then HAD FOOD, once again at the bar downstairs. Then milled about the convention center with Mike and John for a bit, caught an Ao no Exorcist cosplay group. THEN ONE AGAIN WENT BACK TO the hotel to shower and rest up. AND THEN WENT BACK OUT for dessert at cheesecake factory, where we chilled with Annie and a few others. Had lots of food mixups and ended up not having to pay for my smoothie. Whoops.
AND THEN SATURDAY WAS OVER.
And then sunday was a mass packing and getting everything stashed into my car (hint: did not fit two bags and had to be stashed in the back seat.) Went back to the convention center to check out the dealers room one more time and see what AA had to offer. Got a really cool pacman poster that's now hanging on my cubicle wall~
... And then we went on an epic adventure to Red Lobster and got lobster and a cute waiter. :D
AND THEN THE CONVENTION WEEKEND WAS OVER AND I GOT TO SLEEP ON MY OWN BED.
The album for Sakuracon shots are
here! Plenty more shots, just didn't put them all on the journal.
THE END.
