We have been talking alot lately around our house about what direction the next year will take us. There are several projects on the horizon for us to initiate. All of these would enable me to engage full time in their marketing and production

The way I've always seen it, if you don't feel, right down to the marrow in your bones, what it is you want to do with yourself in life then you don't have any business getting thousands of dollars in debt taking classes you don't feel passionately about, because honestly..an intelligent but passionate person with just a high school degree can make a name for themselves in the world more easily than an uninspired college gratuate. And as far as status is concerned, "you can't take it with you."

As a whole, I think women need to push themselves to learn more. We have this mental roadblock alot of the time that says... whooop whooop whoop... you're married now, or have a kid now, or have someone to watch after you, why on earth do you need more education? You'll never need it. You haven't needed anything you've gotten so far?!
But at the same time, im not the kind of person to stop learning, but i have a hard time because i think most of what you learn in college is crap.
I want to have my own bakery, restraunt, and glass blowing shop. heh. Can I go to school for those things and still balance a home life?
Who knows.
But I know I'll try.

Although I do understand where you're coming from.
But, it isn't as though you, or any other woman, needs to go to college in order to learn. I'm not sure what Mankato has or hasn't, but there's lots of ways to expand your knowledge through informal or even formal institutions without having to get tied up in some sort of financial situation. Did you ever hear about Communiversity in Kansas City, by any chance?

I think thats what gets me thinking about it. Because it is so at my finger tips. But to go to Culinary School, I would have to travel to the cities. Which, although not horrible, not in my desire to do unless i live there.
Church beliefs tell me to push myself to get as much formal education as I can. But I also know that is in place because so many women pop out 8 kids, and that ends up ruling their world. It helps keep them more balanced. I totally get that.
It just keeps me thinking....
Its not that I wouldn't be adverse to formal training in anything.. its just that I have never thought of myself being just one thing. I want to do it all ya know... but i dont want to go to school for 10 years to have a degree in any of it.
And then i feel like a 18 yr old, because these are all the thoughts that you are supposed to have then, and not now at 25.

Well, of course, good for them, but the fact of the matter is, life is more complex, and namely so are we, to just have that ability to stand proud and say, "My name is Jason, and I'm an insurance claims adjuster!" Like a parallel conversation we're having, life is more than the sum of its parts; we're more than the sum of one word, namely what we doThe thing is Sarah, even though you don't think you do, you have a LOT of time to figure this out. Try not to get caught up with age, assigning different numbers to different thoughts and feelings. And in the meantime, you've touched a lot of people, touched a lot of lives and done many meaningful things. They may not be things you can put on a resume or be certified for, but just from knowing you as I do, from my perspective, ( ... )
