Looks like there is a hurricane heading my way. I know I should have some things planned just in case the storm does plow where I'm at. From the way it looks, we will be hit with the west side of the storm, which always sucks harder than any other it seems. I knew there was a reason that I gathered all of my important things and put them into condensed form. Instead of a box of pictures, I've got three small albums. All paperwork has been put into a file system that is easy to grab and go. And here I thought I was just making my desk neater. I've also made evacuation a much gentler process should it come to that.
Is it sad that the first thought I had was my books? I just spent over $500 in new books and don't want them to be destroyed should the storm decide to be a total bitch and zoom straight over my city.
It is only projected to be a cat 2 by the time it hits my area.
It is easy to tell the true Floridians when a storm comes, and those who have not been here long. We don't tend to panic until the storm reaches a certain cat. On average we are prepared as soon as season starts and don't have to scramble around doing last minute prep. If you see the locals start to freak out, then it is time to freak out. To put things into perspective, I slept through Andrew. It destroyed the Keys and Miami area, though I was in a position that didn't get the full force brunt. We did get a beating, but not as bad as it could have been. And I slept through it. Like a total champ.
As of right now, all things are sorted out should evacuation become an issue. All of my possessions are easy grab and go (except for my buttload of books), and I have places to stay all over the state. Storm hits east, move west. Storm hits west, move east. Storm zooms up the middle? Pick a side and jet, then pray for the best.
I started the second portion of the ten shorts for
10iloveyou last night. I am pleased with some of it, but not pleased with other parts. I also think I will switch prompts. I had started on minutes, but this doesn't quite seem like it quite fits the prompt 'minutes', nor does it seem to be the perfect second piece of the puzzle. I may write it full stop now and then flesh slide it into sequence later when it would fit better.
No luck finding a beta yet. No response from the person on ff.net, no response from the SH forums. I am beginning to think that I will be totally SOL on the whole beta front. If all else fails I'll post it in unmoderated places and see what happens.
