Finally learning to stick up for myself in my old age. ;o)
Went to school today to finish the ATI testing, got that outta the way. Went and argued with the secretary in the nursing office to see my records. She told me I couldn't, I told her that interestinly I have a document from the UCF site saying as a student I have a right to review and inspect my records.
Her chubby face got red and she pursed her lips, I squinted instinctively because if my life had been in cartoon form today she would have definitely exploded. The rest of the convo went as follows...
her: FINE, you wanna see your records, I'll show you your records but you're not gettin' copies!
me: So I can see them, just can't make a copy?
her: No, you can't leave with them. (begins panting)
me: But you have a copy machine right there? Can't I pay to make my own copy?
her: No, making copies is not allowed.
me: That's not true, half of my classmates made copies for their portfolio project last week.
her: (again giving me the stinkeye) Well we don't make copies.
me: Right, anymore... (at this point I'm getting quite snarky) So I can touch them, hold them, smell them take a picture of them, just not make a single copy?
her: NO! You should have your own copy! (Note, my copies are in my mom's safe deposit box.)
me: Okay, right, thanks a lot. (This was a bitchy, non genuine thanks a lot, to be fair.)
Seriously, why must people make life hard? I came in polite and I told her I understand they're busy, I'll come back after grad, whenever would be best for them, I assured her I wasn't trying to be a pain, I'm just trying to save my mom the trouble of driving out to a bank we don't even live that close too to get my stuff out of the safe deposit box.
Anyway I leave and who should I run into right outside but Mrs. Leli. I almost didn't speak to her cause I was still fuming but I decided to complain. So I totally ratted this lady out and Leli was upset she was so rude to me. Ends up, Leli says I'm certainly welcome to a copy of my records and to come by whenever and she'll see that I get them. =)
Now I just hafta be sure to go by when the bitchy woman is working so I can enjoy smiling at her with me best "me -1 you- 0" face, asking for Leli, and having her watch as I get all my copies made, free of charge.
