More ca-razy nursing school stories!
This morning this woman came up on the unit to visit the patient in room 4, a youngish spanish guy. She tells us she's his wife and heads into the room, nothing odd so far, right?
Yeah, so a little bit of time goes by, and another woman comes up and says, "hi, I'm here to see (insert name here), I'm his wife." So at this point we are naturally befuddled. We all waited for some vicious cat fight to erupt when she entered the room, but everyone seemed cool with the situation. In fact, both women brought their kids who referred to the guy as "daddy".
At this point I figure one of them is maybe an ex, or perhaps one of them lied thinking we wouldn't let her visit if she wasn't his wife? However, over the next few hours the two "wives" are like hanging all over him and acting very um, friendly (more on this "friendliness" later).
Now we come to the grand finale, a little later this 7 month pregnant woman waddles down the hall, comes up to us, and tells us she needs to see the guy in room 4, she's his girlfriend!!!
So on with the "friendliness"... The rest of the day these three women (rather competatively) fawn over this guy. The pregnant chick sprawls herself into the bed with him, wife # 2 sat at his bedside glaring at the pregnant chick, and wife # 1 (clearly beating out the others) takes a shower with him! (For the record, Gwen and I gave the guy a good looking at and couldn't figure out what all the fuss was to get 3 women to simultaneously kiss his ass.)
Anyway, that concludes yet another Disturbing Yet Entertaining Nursing School Story. =P
