I do not have any insulin resistance, though. I took a whole lot more when I was first diagnosed. I think my body went through some major changes with that major weight loss and the DKA. Plus, my first doctor after diagnosis put me on WAY too much metformin and possibly burned out my pancreas. When I was finally tested to confirm T1 (2 years AFTER DKA), my numbers were just below the threshold to be considered T1, but still technically T1.

if you look at the pictures, it looks like your partner has blossomed almost at the same time as you have. I realised my partner and I are similar in that aspect. perhaps it's our choice of lifestyles and the things we did/didn't do (not to mention the food we eat). I see you're trying to go to the gym and working things out together - and it's a good sign!
things take time and when you look at the pounds that you'll be losing/have lost, it still looks better than in Kilos hahaha.
I have the same problem, and I am trying. but unemployment, low wages, stress will not help you. *hugs*
Instead of the gym, I just got this health booklet. they suggested power walking for 20 minutes a day with some stretching (lunges with dumbbells/stretch bands etc) and supposedly it helps people lose about 20 pounds in 9 weeks :)
