I joined a gym.  Apparently I really needed to do that.

We went today for the first time.  I did pretty well, but I'm clueless.  Chris led me around pretty well and I tried a few different things.  I didn't leave the gym feeling like dead weight, I was actually kind of pumped.  That excites me.  We go in and while I'm making dinner, he showers and ( Read more... )

Depo packed it on for me, too. All at the same time, I got off the depo, started riding my bike to work 4 miles a day 4 days a week, and quit taking my meds. I lost 60 pounds in about 7 months. I was initially diagnosed at T2 (in Aug 2000), and that may have been right, but this started in March 03 and I didn't go into DKA till June 04, and that was helped along with a SEVERE sinus infection.

I do not have any insulin resistance, though. I took a whole lot more when I was first diagnosed. I think my body went through some major changes with that major weight loss and the DKA. Plus, my first doctor after diagnosis put me on WAY too much metformin and possibly burned out my pancreas. When I was finally tested to confirm T1 (2 years AFTER DKA), my numbers were just below the threshold to be considered T1, but still technically T1.

hi i chanced upon your journal because of a ferret pict you supposedly own :) (or quite a few really haha). I am just going to say a few things here as words of suggestions + encouragement.

if you look at the pictures, it looks like your partner has blossomed almost at the same time as you have. I realised my partner and I are similar in that aspect. perhaps it's our choice of lifestyles and the things we did/didn't do (not to mention the food we eat). I see you're trying to go to the gym and working things out together - and it's a good sign!

things take time and when you look at the pounds that you'll be losing/have lost, it still looks better than in Kilos hahaha.

I have the same problem, and I am trying. but unemployment, low wages, stress will not help you. *hugs*

Instead of the gym, I just got this health booklet. they suggested power walking for 20 minutes a day with some stretching (lunges with dumbbells/stretch bands etc) and supposedly it helps people lose about 20 pounds in 9 weeks :)
