Two shows, two nights! Rad ones too! w00t!

So Friday, I went to the Vandals. I somehow timed my arrival to be right as the Vandals were barely starting to set up. I almost immediately found some friends and was greeted with, "Dude. There's a bunch of dudes claiming to be all white power and shit in the bar. We're calling in some boys." Heh. Nothing much ended up happening. Some boots and fists met some white power flesh and that's that. I didn't actually SEE any of the aforementioned things take place, I was too busy watching the show. All the better.

Vandals played alright. They kept making snide comments about how they're losing all their album sales to downloading. It wasn't quite as direct as that, but it really made me hate those people that ONLY download music. They played really well otherwise. They surprised me and played "Marry me" which I completely did not expect. The rest of their set consisted of mostly their hits over the years. When Warren sang his song, he climbed on top of these mirrors that are around the stage and was laying in all the dust up there... talking about how dust is 90% or something human skin. This made me elated for my own dorkass reasons.

The crowd was fun enough. It was an odd mix of 15 year old kids and the "over 21 crowd". God, that makes me feel old.

And then.... DUN DUN DUN!

Last night!

I forced my friend to accompany me to the Gogol Bordello show. Mostly because it was at a relatively new club that's located in the scariest part of SLC. We got there and there was a huge line outside... I was so scared we weren't going to get in. I had been lazy/stubborn and didn't buy advanced tickets. We got in with no issues, and he went straight to the bar... hah.

Gogol Bordello is so awesome live. I recommend ANYONE to go see them. I was saddened last night because it seemed they involved the dancers a lot less than the last two times I've seen them. Regardless, it was the type of show where it's hard to sit still. I kept leaving my friend to go bounce around in the crowd.

At one point, I was up front and some guy came up and was looking for his tie. So me, being a nice person, start looking on the floor, when I noticed money on the floor. At first glance, I thought it was a $5, but it turned out to be a $50. I felt kinda guilty about taking it but, what was I supposed to do? Yell out.. "HEY ANYONE LOSE 50 BUCKS?" Yeah, right. I spent most of it on Gogol Bordello merch and the rest I gave to my friend.

I didn't stay in the crowd as long as I typically would have wanted to. I felt bad abandoning my friend and he didn't want to go in. Oh well, though. I was happy he came with me. Now he knows the awesomeness.
