Ok so this week's WiR post is a tad late but I assure you there is good reason.
The past week has been a mad rush to get everything ready and finalised for
es02 his younger brother and I geared up for the Abbey Medieval Tournament at the weekend. The rush was only amplified when it was realised that we had double booked ourselves as RivFur was also on that weekend. A compromise was met and we did half of Abbey and half of RivFur.
Abbey was great and so HUGE! I think I was more overwhelmed with the sheer size of the group encampments let alone how much further the stalls and vendors stretched. There was more than 30 groups attending this year (as I recall from the grand parade) but there were even more market stall vendors too. Should have some photos of things up soon for you all to poke a stick at but yeah, was fantastic and I'm glad to have joined KOLR to give me the opportunity to perform and learn with the group.
Despite taking up extra layers of clothing and blankets for the camp out on Friday night...I still managed to get myself the beginnings of a cold/flu thing so I spent most of Monday in bed as a result to try and regain the strength lost over the weekend.
As for RivFur we really only just made it back for the Saturday evening dinner which mostly was just trying to remember everyone's names and fight off the visible tiredness both Tom and I were feeling after having little or no sleep the past few nights and performing/working in the hot sun all day. Sunday evening was LaserForce and oh my god was it great...I wish we could do like a whole week of games with small and large groups...I loved every minute of it.
