hmmm....

How do you write that noise that Homer makes when he thinks of beer and/or donuts? Yeah, I made that noise today. Went to Nijo's and was convinced by several people at the table that they would buy me the Omokasa plate. It's the $60 chef special five course meal plate. I'm game to try whatever they wanted to bring on. After three bottle of saki (no, not bishonen, Ann), the waitress realized she forgot to actually order my food. Oops. Free bottle saki on them for that goof.

I then got a first course of sashimi and pickle salmon eggs. Both were quite yummy. After a bit more time (and everyone else being almost done), I received the second course of a special roll that looked exactly like a muscle shell but was a tempura'd roll of scallops, crab and avocado with eel sauce and spicy tuna sauce. Nummers! I think we were on saki bottle number five at this point. The third course was the most orgasmic scallops I have ever eaten. I have no words to describe how wonderful it was and yes, my eyes did roll up in my head while eating it. At that point we found out it was taking slightly longer than necessary as they decided they could not serve me any courses that were currently on the menu and the waitress described the kitchen as an iron chef argument. That obviously meant another free bottle of saki. The fourth course was a roll of pickled carrot, asparagus and cucumber topped with red tuna and the little flying fish roe that was flavored with lime. And the final plate was seared steak marinated in oyster sauce then rolled in cracked pepper and other spices and seared over a shitake comfit and grilled asparagus and onions. Only that was not it. She then brought out a wonderful flan with strawberry soy sauce and home made whipped cream using godiva chocolate liqueur. *dies*

God was that meal divine. It was also very very long. We left at 11:50 and got back at 2:15. All told, the waitress really cut us a deal. Of seven bottles of saki, she comped us three and also gave us 10% off for our patience. I love Nijo's.

So far I have not heard about my two + hour lunch. I wonder if it's because I left my poggle painting on my desk that is painted to say "I believe that I am in hell, therefore I am there." Oops

food, birthday
