Dear Equinox Vidder
My dearest Equinox Vidder,
Thank you so so much for making a vid for me!! First of all, have fun and enjoy the vidding!! I love all these sources and can't wait to see what you will do with them. I like many kinds of vids, they can be sad, funny, silly, serious, over the top, a mixture of things. I like character studies, ensemble vids, shipping and slash vids, meta vids, it's all good. The same goes for music, I tend to prefer fast paced songs, but there are also vids to slow songs out there that I adore. The only dislike I have is that I don't like voice overs. A bit of dialogue at the beginning or end is fine, but constant dialogue during a vid does not work for me. It pulls me out of the flow and I don't know whether to listen to the song or the lines and I end up not being able to get into it.
If you already have an idea in mind by all means go for it! If there's this one vid for this one source that you've always yearned to make, this is your chance! Here are some details about these sources and what I love about them.
Blossom (TV)
This was such a big part of my childhood/early teenage years!! I love Blossom and everyone else, but mostly Blossom. I would love absolutely anything, it can be character driven or fun and dancy, anything!!
I think there are only DVDs availabe for the first two seasons. These are my favorite seasons anyway, so that's fine! However, if you have access to it all, then by all means vid it all.
Blood In Blood Out (1993) SAFETY
"Prison, drugs and gang war touch three young men in East Los Angeles from the 1970s to the 1990s." I love this so much, it's a three hour movie taking place over several decades. Every time I watch it I'm sad that it doesn't go on for another three hours. It's hard to describe what makes this so special, it's a very well told story and I've loved this movie now for 20 years. You can watch it here on youtube. The quality is not great but maybe you can get a sense of whether or not you might enjoy this.
Double Impact (1991) SAFETY
Double Jean-Claude van Damme - double the fun! I adore this movie and I would love to have a vid that I can hold to my heart and adore as well.
Sudden Death (1995) SAFETY
I also adore this movie! I love the action and that the bad guys are actual bad guys who do bad things. And I love that it makes no sense at all that a former firefighter has skills like an ex special forces guy. It's awesome!
Dolores Claiborne (1995) SAFETY
Interestingly enough this movie was directed by the same person who directed Blood In Blood Out, two very different but equally amazing movies. I love Dolores and how she cares for her daughter and I love her relationship with Vera.
The X-Files
I love Scully and would adore a vid featuring her eye rolls and raised eyebrows and thrown up hands while dealing with everything. I also like Mulder and Scully and how they work together. And I would be totally up for Mulder/Krycek. You can make it serious or comedic or over the top yet sincere. Follow your heart!!
Married With Children
I need a fun happy vid about the soul crushing emptiness of existence and what better vessel for that is there aside from a Married with Children vid? Also, Peggy is awesome and gorgeous!
Farscape
I love this show and everyone in it! Seriously you can make an ensemble vid or focus on any character or concept and I will love it. I think Rygel is adorable and I like John and Scorpius' disturbing relationship.
