parrots available for adoption

i do rescue privately right now, as i wait for my 501 (c) 3 status nod from the IRS. i have s few parrots that are aviailable to loving qualified homes. All parrots are in the SF Bay Area of CA and will not be shipped. (If you are from somewhere else, I may consider you, but you would have to come get the parrot yourself).

Biff is a Yellow Naped Amazon male, approx 11 years old. His human loved him, but did not do right by him in terms of socialization (he bites to try and get his way) and diet (he came to us as a puddle of 'zon, and is now getting sleeker.). His foster home has converted him to a healthier diet and is making sure he gets exercise. He also now lives with other parrots and is learning what being a bird means! He has come a long way in terms of socialization as well, but still has more strides to go. He needs a better cage- his is an old cast iron one from the eighties. He has been seen by Dr. Speer at Medical Center for Birds in late 2006 and other than his overweight issues/diet, he is healthy. $100 adoption fee.

Parry is a Red Headed Amazon male, approx 7 years old. His family went through lots of changes (divorce, spouse who had him working all the time, kids growing up and taking more adult human time) and he was given to me so that I could find him a better home. He likes people, but also was not socialized well- and he is jumpy around hands. He is stick trained, though and his foster home is working with him on the "hand thing". His diet was seed, corn, and apple when he came to us, now he eats lots of veggies, greens and Harrison's. He has a cage that comes with him when he is adopted if the adoptive family needs it. He has been seen by Dr. Brian Speer at Medical Center for birds in 2006 and is healthy. $100 adoption fee.

Benu is a Senegal Parrot male, approx 9 years old. His human decided to relinquish him a few years after he married. Benu was jealous of the wife and they did not deal with it well at all. He was left in his cage for hours, often covered in the middle of the day as punishment. They knew he deserved better, so he was given to me to find him a home. He has mild biting issues that are being worked on in his foster home. He is an angry somewhat fearful bird who needs an understanding home that uses positive reinforcement ONLY. He is really quite sweet and has a great sense of humor and drama. He eats a healthy diet and has a cage that comes with him when he is adopted if the adoptive family needs it. He has been seen by Dr. Brian Speer at Medical Center for birds in 2006 and is healthy. $100 adoption fee.

Pictures and more are available with inquiry. All these adoptions must be into home setting (not breeding facility) & must be to non-smoking homes. All applicants are checked out as with any parrot rescue, so expect that. But we are small and respond faster than larger rescues with too much work right now.
