2005 Commitment - my first (and perhaps the last) doujinshi:
My plan is to make a book with the comic strips that I published on the web. The text will remain in English, but with a page of Japanese-English translation and comment inserted after each comic strip. The only new stuff in this book that will not appear on my website are (1) the little illustrations accompanied the Japanese-English translation and comment pages, possibly 4-5; (2) the translations; (3) the comments; (4) the back cover illustration; and (5)postscript.
My preliminary plan:
Cover: Black and White, PP laminated, 210kg off-white paper
Black fly paper
Content: 84kg off-white
Pages: 48
Size: B5
Quantity: 200 (too many?)
I've just contacted a publisher and set up a submission deadline. According to da plan, my own doujinshi will arrive at my doorstep by the end of February. My heart jumped with joy while my brain shouted constant vigilance, 'cuz not many things in this world work according to plan.
The first thing that I have to figure out is the copyright issue. It may not be too hard to skip the word "Harry Potter", but to replace Remus with "Remxs" and Sirius with "Sirous" is just not the way I want. Phrases like "no money so no infringement" just do not apply here. Sigh. Writing a disclaimer is such an art.
I sent out the rental form for a booth of a doujinshi event in Tokyo. Looks like it is one of the big events in the year. Anyway the date is May 4th, which is 4 months away. I should have something to sell by then.
Now I'm gonna work on the translation and do some little illustrations during the long weekend. Fun.
