(no subject)
So Kristen's in Philly this weekend showing a group of Egyptian bigwigs around (never mind that she had never been there before - apparently she's just that competent). I miss her. I wish I were there. And damnit, I want a Wawa tuna hoagie and some fucking Herr's potato chips. She's staying within a few blocks of where I lived that summer, when everything pretty much went to shit but it was still fun to sit on the roof and watch our neighbor's TV and hand him beers through the window. Apparently things have gotten really yuppie-fied around there in the past few years. When I lived there it wasn't a bad area really (although you'd think it was if you were just passing through), but now there are two EMS stores within a few blocks and a ridiculous number of Starbucks. She went to the Mutter museum and I can't decide if I'm jealous or glad that I wasn't there to see it with her. It sounds gross as hell, but in a really fascinating way.
I can't remember if I mentioned it already, but her mom visited last weekend and a very good time was had by all. Seriously. Something big changed, and now she treats not only Kristen but me as well like a human being. It's amazing. Also, Pinto really liked having someone around who cared what she had to say. So yay! No in-law drama! Things started off really badly a few years ago, but I think we're in the clear now.
