Was at
Spark 40K qualifier ceremony today.
very good, light-hearted, ran on time, smooth
only things I can nit-pick on are:
-the 55sec elevator pitch, people should stop when their time is up, otherwise it's no point
-there was no female speakers - Stephen Tidall was the guest speaker and speaking from the judges point of view was Terry from IceHouse, and the MC were 2 males + another male 40K lead. They could have at least included a female MC. At one point I was thinking, this is such a boy's club, kinda of feeling. I know Spark is not cos I know them, but that is just the feeling it gives if someone else whom don't know Spark.
don't think they had enough food, or it wasn't delivered well, some students took heaps straight when they came out, tsk tsk.
and I was feeling hungry cos had early lunch too, and I was thirsty and the glass of wine i took was fill to the brim. Although it was a very nice glass of sav. So yeah I felt dizzy in the midst of it...
Stephen Tindall stressing on the need to network, pleasing all collaborators, and secure your funding
Today and yesterday, and one of the day last week, I wore heels to uni. Cos my jean pants were too long and I didn't like the bottom of my jeans scraping the lab floor. Heels are good for my postures but not good for my feet...
last week, after one day my feet was sore, but yesterday after wore for one day it was alright, but today was not good, so I guess I've build up to be able to endure 2 days. Next week maybe I can do 3 days.
