A woman Scorned: HP fic

I was rummaging through trying to sort my files into some semblance of order, when I stumbled upon this chapter that I had upon a whim written an age ago. So I thought, why not and here it is.

Please read and review,

Lil's

Oh and as a side note, this is unbeta'd so I may have missed a bit here or there

Title: #1: A Heart Scorned: Part 1
Sumary: Let him not be warned, never to mess with a woman scorned.
Pairings: Harry/Ginny; Harry/OC
Warnings: Mild swearing; mild sexual scenes.
The hall echoed with rounds of applause, whoops and cheers of joy sounded out as a young man with tousled black hair and wire rimmed spectacles that had fallen lopsidedly down his nose, rose from his seat and made his way up to the front, with a faint tinge of pink to his cheeks. She watched as he glanced back to the small group of people who were seated next to where he had been, and watched them all nod encouragingly. It was obvious that man was nervous, shifting from one foot to another in front of the podium, a crumpled sheet of paper in his hand as he scanned the crowds before him his hand shaking slightly. The Minister stepped forwards and with a flourish placed a medal with a thick crimson velvety ribbon round his neck before stepping back, face beaming.

He fingered the medallion for a moment, the whole crowd paused in anticipation as everyone waited with baited breath for their ‘Hero of the wizarding world’ to speak.
Along with everyone else, she also held her breath as she watched him crumple the sheet and take a deep breath before beginning.

“I-I should say what a pleasure it is to be able to receive this award; h-how grateful and how proud I am.”
She noticed that his shoulders were quaking, his face barely suppressing tears that threatened to fall.

“I should thank the Minister of Magic for his kind hospitality…”
He took another deep breath, pulling himself straighter, his resolve strengthening.

“…but I won’t say any of those things!”
Her breath hitched to the sound of his anger, his hurt and pain which showed through his powerful voice.

“I am not proud. People have died for me to receive this reward. People I loved. I don’t know about you, but I think that a medal is rather pointless. It does not bring those that I have lost, those that I have loved, back to me.”
Several people in front of her began to weep, a couple cried “ere ere.”

“There are several, far more courageous than me. More honourable and kind; those who sacrificed everything to make the world a better place; who showed so much determination to keep me going, push me forward and remind me of what I was striving to achieve. These are the people who deserve this award. Not me. They deserve the adoration from you all but they are not here. They have sacrificed their lives to protect those that they love, died to protect what they believed in….”
He trailed off and sucked in a deep breath, struggling to control his emotions, a tear had managed to break free to roll down his cheek. All around her, heads were bowed Silence reigned, as the meaning of the words penetrated every heart of every witch and every wizard. The entire wizarding population took in these humbled words and mourned those who had sacrificed their lives.

She watched in awe as he took off his medallion and handed it back to the speechless Minister, commenting that he would rather this be used towards a war memorial in memory of those lost.
With a nod, the Minister handed the medallion back to an assistant. Tears ran down her cheeks as she watched; a bushy haired young woman reached across and practically squeezed the air out of him, in a bone-crushing hug and she watched that crooked grin of his as he hugged his friend in return.
It was what she so admired about him. Harry Potter. The world’s most powerfull wizard, the greatest wizard alive and the youngest seeker of the century; and yet he stubbornly refused to accept it, could not even begin to see it, and it was almost heart rendering.

Others stood to receive their rewards, and as if he had set the trend, each and every one was handed back to the Minister in a similar manner.
Finally with the rewards or their lack of, the Minister gave his final speech thanking everyone for attending and to enjoy the ‘Weird Sisters.’

With a loud cheer and everyone drifted off towards where the outside stage had been erected.
She stood rooted to the spot as she watched several people shaking Harry Potter’s hand before leaving. Now was her chance. She could finally speak to him; tell him how much she admired him for who he was. Not the ‘boy who lived’, not the ‘Saviour of the wizarding world’ but the plain and simply ‘Harry’.

‘Oh my god’ her heart nearly leapt into her throat, when she noticed, the young man walk down the steps and cross the short distance towards her. She felt rooted to the spot as he offered her a brief smile before continuing on past in the direction of the stage. Finally, once her limbs had deemed fit to unfreeze, she wheeled around. But by then it was too late, Harry, having already disappeared amongst the crowd.
One Year Later…..

Once a year, the Auror Academy and the School of Experimental Potions, combined to convene a conference of sorts. It had been deemed necessary for Aurors to have a general understanding of how potions could be used in the field, whilst it was thought useful for all potions masters to understand what the implications ‘said’ potions were.
On the whole the conference was generally well received, and allowed for both disciplines to interact and socialise. For Alexia, it was finally a chance to meet Harry Potter following the disastrous attempt at the award ceremony. She sipped a glass of cheap Chardonnay and leaned back against the wall, scanning the crowd as she did so. It had been an interesting day, and Alexia had felt she had learned a great deal she could utilize in future potions, but it the day was somewhat lacking as she had yet to see the one person who would actually make this whole affair worth while. She spotted that bushy haired young woman chatting to a group of people not far away.

Hermione Granger, one third of the ‘golden trio’. Oh how Alexia envied her. Hermione, another potion’s apprentice was in a separate class to Alexia which suited her just fine. She had found that since the ceremony and watching that woman’s grubby hands practically maul her crush, what had been a slight enviousness had now turned to instant dislike for the young woman.
As she watched this young witch chat amiably, another entered the group, causing the bushy woman to squeal ungainly and wrap her arms tightly around the newcomer whilst the others left. Alexia almost dropped her glass when she realized who it was that had the girl’s attention.
Oh Harry, I am so glad you came! I know you don’t usually like these social events. What did you think of today’s seminars?”

She overheard Hermione’s excited rush and listened in.
There was an amused chuckle.

“Actually, it was quite good. I am almost inclined to believe that I chose the wrong career. Almost…”
He added with a grin at the look that formed on his friends face.

“Anyway I am sure that I will not ever again take a potion’s master for granted. It looks so complicated.”
Hermione’s face lit up as she continued to drabble on about the complexities of potion making.

Alexia sighed loudly, trying to still her nerves ‘come on Alex, he is right there in front of you. Go talk to him, he can’t notice you otherwise.’
She was about to put a foot forwards then stopped herself. ‘Who am I kidding? I will just make a fool out of myself and he will never talk to me again.’ She took another sip of wine and glanced miserably around her. Perhaps she should go, it was not as if she were socialising with anyone…

“Has anyone seen Alexia?” A deep strong voice brought Alexia back to attention, instantly recognising her brother’s voice.
“Oh, hello Theo!” Hermione exclaimed and went to hug him. She seemed to be that type who hugged almost anyone, Alexia mused. “Actually, come to think of it, I haven’t seen Alexia at all this evening.”

“Oh, well I am sure she’s around somewhere.”
Alexia screamed to herself. ‘NOW Alex, NOW!! Now’s the chance, while’s Theo’s there. They are even asking about you. Well at least Theo is, anyway.’

“Who’s Alexia?” Harry asked, a mildly curious expression on his face that made Alexia’s heart flutter wildly in her chest.
“Oh, Alexia is a fellow potion’s apprentice, only she is in a different class from me. She is a bit of a recluse, but is exceptional with brewing.” Hermione explained.

Alexia started a little. ‘Did she just compliment me?’ Alexia might dislike the girl, yet she had always held a grudging respect for the young woman’s abilities. To receive such a compliment came as a bit of a shock.
“A recluse?” Harry’s bemused response made Alexia’s blush in embarrassment.

“Well, she’s a little shy, but I wouldn’t say she was a recluse” Theo replied. “Alex was born with a rather unusual ability that, but a few witches or wizards inherit; the ability to blend in to the surroundings and seemingly disappear. It is not something they can control and is highly dependant on their emotional state.”
“Ah.” Harry nodded understandingly, and Alexia noticed with a jolt, a little in awe.

“I always wish to just be able to disappear at will, it would be nice simply not to draw attention” he muttered, absently rubbing his scar. Alexia’s jaw dropped at this.
“ALEX!” Theo almost yelled with a laugh. “That’s where you’ve been! right under our noses all this time!”

Alexia jumped. She now had undivided attention from all three of them. Hermione smiled, and Harry just gave that curious look again and Theo positively beamed. Sighing, and more than a little embarrassed, Alexia pushed off the wall and made her way over, glaring at Theo.
“Were you standing there the whole time?”

Alexia had the good decency to blush at Harry’s question and nodded.
“Crikey, I didn’t even see you there.”

“You wouldn’t.” Alexia found herself responding. “Though I didn’t realise that I had ‘blended again’.” Theo chuckled and swung an arm around her shoulder hugging her close. “That’s my little sis.” He laughed “Always the shy one.”
“Sister?!”

Alexia looked up as Harry swiped his hand through his hair, a slight blush forming on his cheeks which Alexia thought looked adorable. He coughed, and Alexia found it difficult not to laugh as his brows furrowed into a confused frown. She was about to explain, but was cut to the chase by Theo.
“Ah, yes that gets people every time.” He chuckled. She watched on amused as Harry’s gaze flicked from Theo, whose skin was as black as midnight, tall and muscular with a deep resonating voice that commanded attention; to her pale almost white skin, her raven hair cascading in curly strands currently abound atop.

“Theo is my half brother.” Alexia went on to explain. Harry did not seem to be thoroughly convinced by this, but did not mention anything further. Alexia was not surprised, as the whole ‘half sister’ bit always elicited confusion.
The rest of the night was spent in bliss as far as Alexia was concerned. The four of them drabbled on about over various new potions and groundbreaking discoveries; about Harry’s latest training drills and the various adventures that Harry and Hermione had at school. The list was endless.
Alexia’s heart jumped every time Harry Potter laughed to one of her jokes, or exclaimed at some of the antics she and Theo had got up to at their old school.
Finally, Harry yawned and excused himself, stating he had an early start to training the next day. He waved at everyone as he went, but Alexia did not even notice as she was still hanging onto the words he had just spoken.

“Good to see you Alexia, I will get to actually see you around again, won’t I?” and with a wink he left. Alexia remained in a daze for the rest of the night.
One week before Christmas Eve: the Ministry’s Christmas Ball

“Alexia, come on. We’re going to be late!”
Alexia was standing in front of a full length mirror, pondering critically over her figure, fingering her garment before huffing and shrugging out of her clothes. Behind, her, the room looked as if it had been ransacked. Clothes were strewn everywhere from the bed to the floor. A corset dangled from a lampshade, whilst several skirts had been thrown over a nearby chair. Several varieties of hair clips and tonnes of make up lay abandoned on the floor and on the surface of her dressing table. Alexia stormed over to her wardrobe and yanked out another hanger with a deep forest green dress made of the softest velvet. Once on, she wrinkled her nose, shrugged out of them again and made another selection, finally settling on a simple long black dress with off-the-shoulder straps. Black was always her favourite colour which complimented her raven coloured hair. She decided eventually on wearing her hair loose, curling strands straying loosely over her shoulders whilst simple makeup heightened her high cheekbones and made her dark brown eyes almost smoulder.
“Finally!” Theo sighed theatrically, as Alexia made her way down the stairs. “I thought you had had an accident, got buried under a pile of clothes or something.” He chuckled as Alexia hit him with her handbag.
“You didn’t have to wait for me you know.” Theo just smiled. “And allow my sis to ‘disappear’ at the gaping stares she elicits.” He gave her a playful push as Alexia blushed slightly. Taking her arm, they both apparated.
The hall was filled to the brim with ministry officials, Auror trainees and other notable witches and wizards. Alexia felt slightly out of place and Theo had already made his way to a group of wizards grabbing a champagne flute from a house elf as he went. Alexia searched through the crowd for that distinctive tousled hair. She had become rather accustomed to Harry. Following the conference, he had kept true to his word, and she had seen him almost every week when they all met up at the ‘Leaky Cauldron’, a different ensemble each time. She smiled when she felt a tap on her shoulder and turned to see Harry beaming at her; his smile wide and roguish, his eyes shining bright. Alexia returned the beam, until she noticed the person standing beside him and she had to fight to maintain her composure, a silly synthetic smile plastered on her face as Harry introduced her.

“Alexia, I want you to meet my girlfriend Ginny Weasly. Gin, this is the friend I was telling you about.” Alexia, noticed that the other girl did not look happy to see her in the slightest and was wearing a faint frown on her face, which she covered quickly when Harry turned to her. ‘Well that makes two of us then’ Alexia thought furiously as she watched Ginny brush a none-existent bit of dust off Harry’s robes.
“A pleasure to make your acquaintance” came the comment dripping with sarcasm. Alexia had to admire, how this woman could possibly make a simple and polite comment mean something quite the opposite. It seemed that Harry was oblivious as he spotted another red-headed Weasly in the distance.
“Oh look, there’s Ron. I will be back in a mo…” and with that he rushed off to meet his friend.

Alexia, stood stiffly next to Ginny, who looked none too amused at being abandoned.
“So- how long have you known Harry?” Alexia tried, she cursed inwardly as Ginny’s eyes narrowed. “Since I first went to Hogwarts” was the stiff reply.
“Oh” was all Alexia could think to say. She wanted to simply disappear, whilst at the same time afraid she might actually do exactly that. ‘No exclamations yet’ so she obviously hadn’t.
“What do you think your relationship is with Harry?”

Alexia’s eyebrows shot into her hairline at the blunt and unexpected question. Did she really just hear that? “I, I- Harry and I- I mean, Harry’s just a friend. We were introduced at a conference. You know, the combined Auror stoke Potions one?” She stuttered underneath the unforgiving gaze. Ginny drew to her self to full height, throwing her shoulders back, and flicking her long fiery hair behind her as she stepped closer to Alexia. Her soft brown eyes took on a harsh glint, as she stared into Alexia’s deep pained ones.
“Let’s get one thing straight right now. Harry is mine. Do you understand? No one is going to take him away from me.” She leaned back and smirked. “Is that understood?”
Alexia nodded dumbly and was saved as Harry came ambling back, three Champagne flutes in his hands and smiling deeply.

“It’s good to see you two getting along.” He gushed happily passing one of the flutes to Alexia and the other to Ginny before taking a good swig of his own. Alexia was nearly bursting, her nerves almost in tatters, desperately, wanting to escape to the girls room as soon as humanly possible, or anyplace but here. The occasional death glares she received from Ginny were not helping matters in the slightest. Once again, Alexia was saved as her brother made his way over and immediately noticed Alexia’s terror with a slight frown.
“Hey Alex, I think I just saw Jona by the punch bowl.” Alexia smiled gratefully and mouthed a thank you to him, as she excused herself and silently communicating with him that she would explain later before going straight to the girl’s bathroom to throw up.
Two days before Christmas Eve…
Alexia, was sitting in her comfiest stockings, denim jeans, a grey jersey wool jumper shrugged up and over her chin, and a pair of furry boot slippers in an arm chair by a roaring fire. The cold had always affected her deeply more used to a warmer climate, and it chilled her to the bones. Alexia gave another shudder and snuggled deeper into the confines of her chair, pulling her jersey further down so that the sleeves almost covered her hands. A puff of air swirled around her as she breathed out and promptly sneezed. ‘That’s it I am emigrating’ Alexia thought miserably.

Since the ball, she had avidly avoided Harry’s mails and had made a point of being absent whenever floo called. However, she could not avoid the fireplace forever, and as such was not exactly surprised, when emerald flames suddenly burst to life, before a revolving figure appeared spinning slowly to a stop. A stooped figure stepped out, brushing soot off his clothes, and setting his glasses straight before looking up.
“Why are you avoiding me?” Harry came straight to the point as he strode over to the arm chair and knelt down before Alexia. She was almost brought to tears right there and then at the look of pure concern on his face.
“Alex, are you Ok? You don’t look too good.” Alexia tried to nod her head feebly but sneezed instead. Harry immediately leapt forward and placed a hand over her forehead and Alexia had to stop her self leaning into the warm touch.
“Christ! Alex you’re burning up!” He stood shaking his head and strode over to Alexia’s writing desk in the corner and grabbed a quill and parchment.
“What are you doing?”
“I am writing to let your brother know that you are all right. Christ, Alexia!” He exclaimed turning towards her. Alexia flinched slightly at the anger in his voice, but his eyes betrayed him. “Why aren’t you talking to anyone? Your brother is worried sick about you. Hell I am worried sick about you.”

At that, Alexia burst into tears. She knew she was being stupid, but Ginny had really shaken her up. She had never gotten between anyone before in her life, and would have been horrified to think that she was even capable of doing such a thing. Yet she could not deny the attraction she felt towards him. She swiped angrily at her tears when Harry marched over to her taking one of her hands in his and rubbing his thumb gently over her pale skin.
“You are coming with me.” Harry decided firmly. “It’s way too cold in here, and you are obviously not looking after yourself.”
Before she could protest, he reached forwards and bodily lifted her out of the chair carrying her towards the fire place and depositing her before it.
“Now wait there while I send an owl to your brother.”
Alexia was too stunned to do much else. Harry made his way back to her, wrapped an arm around her waist and dropped a fistful of floo-powder in the fireplace.
“The Nook.”

The Nook: Christmas Eve
There was a crash and a tinkle followed by cursing as Harry clambered down a ladder, his face a rosy red and hair a holly green colour, clutching now colourless garlands in his hands, with several broken baubles on the floor.
“Sodding Weasly’s!” he exclaimed as Alexia clutched her sides, aching with laughter.
“Oh yes, that’s right. Laugh at Harry’s expense why don’t you!” But there was amusement in his eyes as he collapsed next to Alexia.
“Very Festive” Alexia commented before bursting into a fresh fit of giggles at Harry’s indignant look. Soon both were laughing and Harry repaired the baubles before levitating them back. He glanced over to Alexia sobering a little and regarded her seriously.
“Are you going to tell me what’s been bothering you, or am I going to have to ask a hundred and one questions?”
Alexia immediately stopped giggling and sat back on the floor, leaning her back on the edge of the sofa, bringing up her knees to hug them. She took a deep breath before looking into Harry’s emerald eyes.
“I don’t want to talk about it Harry. It’s nothing really. I was just being silly old me, I-I should really leave.” She made to stand up, but Harry pulled her back down.
“It is something. Something that has your knickers in a twist, and I want to know what it is. I want to help. Please let me.”
Alexia felt like crying again when she saw Harry’s eyes pleading with her. ‘No I can’t’ she thought. ‘It could destroy their relationship’ ‘and you wouldn’t want that would you’ another voice sounded viciously in her mind. Alexia shook her head. She wouldn’t. Ginny was jealous and it was perfectly understandable.
“I’m sorry Harry.” Alexia said quietly staring at the floor. “It’s complicated, I- I just can’t.”
She didn’t look at him, was afraid to see what she might find and stayed staring at a knot on the wooden floor. There was a sigh before Harry responded with a comment that she had least expected.
“It’s Ginny isn’t it?”
“I-I-” Alexia stuttered stunned. “How did you know?”
Harry shrugged then counted off his fingers. “One: the fact she refused to come and stay here when you were here. Two: she didn’t want you here in the first place, urm… and three: Theo told me.” He hung his head slightly looking a little sheepish and Alexia blushed. How much had Theo told him?
“Ginny- She-She had always been rather possessive and jealous, even of Hermione.”
Harry continued and Alexia felt a little guilty as she had felt the same way. It was then that one word stuck out in her mind ‘had’.
“Had?” She said aloud, realisation dawning with an equal amount of horror. Her mouth dropped open as she stared at Harry horror struck.
“You didn’t break up with her did you?”
The look on Harry’s face said it all, and Alexia groaned. Now she would most definitely have to watch her back. “Why?” She watched as Harry shrugged, pushing his glasses back up his nose and sniffing slightly. “I can’t keep going in a relationship when she quite plainly doesn’t trust me.” Was her only response.
“But Harry” Alexia began, and was stopped abruptly by a pair of lips that came crashing down on hers. Her head swam, and her heart leapt, she could barely believe what was happening. The kiss was urgent, desperate and full of need, and she surrendered completely allowing him in, wrapping her arms around him pulling him closer. She felt a hand stroke through her hair and purred into his mouth causing him to smile and deepen the kiss and Alexia felt she was in heaven. Their tongues danced around each other desperately, exploring as if this was their last chance. Finally Alexia pulled away from him her lips flush and tingling watching his eyes darken in front of her.
“Harry I-” she began but was interrupted again as Harry placed a finger over her lips.
“Ginny was right to be jealous. I couldn’t help how I feel about you. I have ever since I first met you.”

Harry’s words felt like music to her ears. She could not quite believe that she was even here, sitting in his arms. “At the convention” she almost whispered to herself fondly, at the same time as Harry had said “At the ceremony.”

“WHAT?!” Alexia almost shouted bowling backwards in shock.
Harry’s smile deepened at the puzzled look on her face. “I saw you at the ceremony, bumped into you in fact, but I didn’t know what to say.”
Alexia was still sitting in shock her mouth opening and closing until Harry waved a hand in front of her face looking somewhat amused.
