Disappointment abounds: HetLex rant
Nine months ago- a pregnancy away- alexanderland was born and I hate to see all my fears have turned out to be true.
As an avid reader and writer of fanfiction it had come to my attention that there are very few blogs and forums devoted to hetLex fiction and art and thought it was a good idea to do something about it.. Thus alexanderland was born as a personal interest to provide all fans of Lex Luthor a place where to read, post and/or comment on fan creations featuring our favourite billionaire in relationships with members of the opposite sex.
I knew it´d be hard to recruit people here on LJ seeing how little interest non-Clex pairings seemed to have and, although I began my entreprise with a positive attitude the state of affairs which drove me to create this community was once again proven to be true. No matter how much I advertised this or how many people I reached out to- a few subscribed out of friendship I suppose- nobody ever posted a thing or commented on anything other than the welcome message.
By now the community LJ looks like a duplicate of my LJ and I really don´t see much point in continuing with something that clearly has no interest whatsoever. I wanted so much to be proven wrong, but I´m as disappointed with this as I am- to a smaller degree- with my LJ.
Several people have told me this might be happening because I wasn´t publisizing my posts elsewhere or in the right communities. I can assure you this isn´t the case . All Chlex and Lexana community blogs are dead or dying a small and painful death. If you have the time and the inclination to check this out, visit any of them. There´ll be either no new entries or submissions without feedback for months on end. I post my stuff on 8 different LJ communities, I even post it on Chloe communities (seeing that most of it is Chlex-oriented) with similar luck.
I know I sound like a broken record and told you this a hundred times but it appears the one and only place I feel at home is Naughty-Seduction. I wouldn´t like to be accused of being ghetto-ish- this is a common accusation amongst all shippers in this and other fandoms, that we can´t get together and respect each other´s preferences, that we isolate ourselves. I commend the girls that created fanon_fridays
and sv_multishipprs to try to change this and wish them the very best. I´m almost certain of their success because they´ve reached out to all shippers and x-overs and that makes things extremely simpler.
I´ll continue posting on my blog as long as there are one or two people interested- thanks to my faithful reader and reviewer greenlady2 , by the way- but I´m in a very dark mood.
