I decided to do the birthday meme wotsit, which I snaffled from both entrenous88 and desoto_hia873. Well these things amuse don't they? It's a well known fact that late August, early September is a fairly traumatic time so I'm warning you!
Go to Wikipedia. In the search box, type your birth month and day (but not year). List three events that happened on your birthday. List two important birthdays and one interesting death. Post this in your journal.
Three Events:
A lot of battles took place on my birthday, particularly English Civil War ones, but I guess the fact that in 1939 World War II: France, the United Kingdom, New Zealand, and Australia declare war on Germany takes the cake.
301 A.D. - San Marino, one of the smallest nations in the world and the world's oldest republic still in existence, is founded by Saint Marinus. Teee-heee!
2004 - The Beslan school massacre results in the deaths of approximately 344 teachers and children.
Births:
1875 - Ferdinand Porsche, Austrian automotive engineer (d. 1951) was born.
1982 - Fearne Cotton, British television presenter was also born. (This one made me giggle, I could have chosen Charlie Sheen or Gareth Southgate if I'd been feeling more mundane.)
Deaths:
Poor old Ollie Cromwell, seems he kicked the bucket 7 years to the day after he'd defeated Charles II at the Battle of Worcester in 1651.
Also Ho Chi Minh and e.e. cummings died on the 3rd September.
