Channel 5 is showing old Buffy episodes and last night was "I Robot, You Jane", which I sorta only glanced at not only because it's Season 1 but also because I have a terrible problem with static and Channel 5 ::sigh::. But one thing that did catch my eye - Willow had a lot of balls even back then didn't she? I remember watching this episode last year when I'd started my big "Rewatch Every Episode from Welcome to the Hellmouth to Chosen thing" which then died a rather sad death around mid Season 3 and the same thing hit me, so I'm reposting the end of the ep, because really in retrospect even though this wasn't a Joss penned episode, we were warned weren't we? No justified complaining anymore....
Cut outside to the fountain. Xander and Buffy are trying to cheer up Willow.
Xander: We gonna go to the Bronze tonight? We three?
Buffy: It'll be fun!
Xander: Yeah, Willow, fun? Remember fun? That thing where you smile? (smiles)
Willow: Oh, I'm sorry guys. I'm just thinking about...
Buffy: Malcolm?
Willow: Malcolm, Moloch... whatever he's called. The one boy that's really liked me, and he's a demon robot. What does that say about me?
Buffy: It doesn't say anything about you.
Willow: I mean, I thought I was really falling...
Buffy: (interrupts) Hey, did you forget? The one boy I've had the hots for since I've moved here turned out to be a vampire.
Xander: Right, and the teacher I had a crush on? Giant praying mantis? (goofy smile)
Willow: That's true. (smiles)
Xander: Yeah, that's life on the Hellmouth.
Buffy: Let's face it: none of us are ever gonna have a happy, normal relationship.
Xander: We're doomed!
Willow: Yeah!
They all laugh. Their laughter quickly becomes nervous and stops. Only the fountain can be heard as they each consider their plight.
