Author's Notes: Part 1/5 in a drabble series.
i. dinner
Veronica went over in the afternoon, just like normal. Celeste and Jake were going out, taking Duncan with them, and Veronica was there to keep Lilly company. She went bearing dessert, and with Lilly’s promise that there was lasagne for dinner. Her hair was wet from the shower she had taken, just half an hour before setting off.
Her Dad kissed her on the cheek as she got out of his car, careful not to drop the cream filled cake. She ignored his offer to bring her home at midnight. When she looked up, Lilly was leaning on the doorway.
“Looks like the babysitter’s here.”
Lilly kissed Veronica’s other cheek as they met halfway up the drive. She smiled and waved to Keith. “I’ll take good care of her,” she promised.
Veronica elbowed her in the side. “Shut up.”
Lilly looked at her like that, and Veronica didn’t know what to make of it.

Summary: Veronica drinks water with dinner
Author's Notes: Part 2/5 in a drabble series
ii. water
Veronica drank water with dinner, which they ate sitting on Lilly’s king sized bed. Lilly was drinking - something. Veronica wasn’t sure what, but it certainly wasn’t water. They were taking their plates back to the kitchen - Lilly didn’t like having the maids in her room when she was home, so in the school holidays it got awful messy - when Lilly took a gulp of her drink and pressed her lips to Veronica’s, pushing her drink into Veronica’s mouth. Veronica swallowed, before Lilly pulled away.
“Peach schnapps?”
“Beats water, huh?”
But she was already missing the feel of Lilly’s lips on hers.

iii. orange
They stayed in the kitchen to snack on the orange and dark chocolate cake that Veronica had brought. Veronica looked for a knife, while Lilly dipped a finger in the sweet topping and licked it off.
Lilly picked up a fork and dug in, offering the other to Veronica. She took it, but made no move to start on the cake.
“You’ve got some icing, right there.” She gestured to her cheek. “I’ll get it.”
She leaned over, and kissed the icing away. Her tongue cleaned the spot.
“It’s good icing,” Lilly offered.
Veronica nodded, a little taken aback at herself. When had their parents friendship become their friendship become this?
Title: Not Enough

Prompt: 034: Not enough
Word Count: 204
Rating: PG-13
Summary: Back in Lilly's room, with the dishes safely in the sink.
Author's Notes: Part 4/5 in a drabble series
iv. not enough
Back in Lilly’s room, with the dishes safely in the sink, and Rachael Sage playing softly in the background, Lilly whispered the words to Cyanide and Cinnamon, her eyes fixed on Veronica.
“My lover’s sweet as sugar, because she’s made of it.”
Veronica was lying on her front across the bed, one of Lilly’s My Little Ponies, that she wouldn’t let her throw out, in her hands. Lilly leaned on the pillows, playing with a hairbrush.
“Come on, I’ll straighten your hair. Can I?”
Veronica nodded, and half an hour later, Lilly was brushing at her neck with her cool soft fingers, and Veronica was trying so hard not to lean into this touch, but it didn’t matter how much attention Lilly paid her, they both knew that it wasn’t enough, and the longing was there if they’d just act on it. And as Lilly pulled the brush through Veronica’s hair again, and moved to stand in front of her to part her hair, she was filled with the longing to just kiss her. And their lips were suddenly pressed against each other and neither of them was sure who made the first move, but they both knew that it was still not enough.
Title: Taste
Fandom: Veronica Mars
Characters: Veronica Mars and Lilly Kane
Prompt: 039: Taste
Word Count: 155
Rating: PG-13
Summary: The taste of chocolate was still in Lilly's mouth.
Author's Notes: Part 5/5 in a drabble series
v. taste
The taste of chocolate was still in Lilly’s mouth, mingled with the sweetness of the peach and that unmistakable taste that was Lilly - something like fruit and yet dark and velvety, smoky, rich and sweet but in the same way as something is sweet after biting a lemon. Lilly tasted the same way as she smelt.
She frowned and Veronica could taste the apology that was coming and to silence it she caught it before it had even left Lilly’s mouth. She didn’t ever want her to apologise, because she never had, never did, and somehow acknowledging what had just happened would ruin it forever. And come what may, the concept of that was unthinkable. So blue eyes and hazel met and nothing was said but the silence was thick enough. And Lilly licked the taste of Veronica’s strawberry lip gloss from her lips, and wondered, briefly, how it had managed to last so long.
