Thanks to
_boy_ and
celticfeministw (whose post I saw after Boy had already made me join), I have joined GoodReads. Kinda like Netflix for books, as far as the star-rating and "someday"-ing and so forth. A great place to keep track of things.
It's been a strange experience, dredging my mind in an attempt to think of every book I've ever read. Called up a lot of odd memories and feelings. I know I am forgetting all kinds of books I've read, but I'll just add them as I think of them, if I ever do.

I've got rather stringent self-imposed rules about adding books to my "read" category... I wonder if it's an INTP thing.
1) If I'm pretty sure I must have read it, but don't remember anything about it -- I don't add it. I'm probably leaving out an awful lot of books with this method, but oh well. For example, I'm sure I read most if not all of the Black Stallion books as a little girl -- I was horse-crazy -- and also the Trixie Belden mystery books; but I added only the ones of those series that I actually have memories of.
2) If I KNOW I read a book (as in, I had to read it for a college lit class, and got an A in the class, but don't really remember it), I grudgingly add it.
3) I only add books to my "partial reads" category if I've read more than half of them. Otherwise I consider that I've just trifled with the book and wasn't inspired enough to call it in the morning.
4) I am adding my art books, because in addition to studying the pictures carefully, I do actually read the text too. All of it.
You know, I'm dismayed to realize how little reading I have done in the last few years. Mostly now I read myself to sleep, and don't read at any other time. :-( And I re-read old favorites often, since I'm looking for comfort and sleep. But now I'm inspired to starting reading a lot again.
I wish I had the list of books from all my college courses; I know I've read at least 25 books I haven't added because I've forgotten them. Not to mention anthologies. (I did major in English Literature after all.)
And I really wish I could think of the titles or authors of books that I remember vivid details of from childhood, but have no clue about finding... maybe I'll post some details of those here, and see if anyone else knows them.
