The Curve

May 03, 2011 00:23

So I thought I'd start up a discussion about a movie I just finished watching on DVD,
Of course it would be one of Matt's movies, "The curve" or as it's known in some areas "Dead man's curve". Has anyone seen this one before, What do you think of it?.

What would you consider to be your favorite of his movies?.

eee, a Matty discussion! Not started by me? On my birthday? It's a marvellous present, thank you lovewithstands!

Gosh, I really enjoy Dead Man's Curve (as it's known in the UK), great performance by Matt and some fantastic scenes. WHen showing it to a friend, who hadn't seen it before, I realised it was difficult to get into it as the characters are not very likeable. But a great performance from Matt nonetheless!

Other favourites would be The Groomsmen, not enough Matt for my liking but a great all rounded character with some adorable scenes with his kids and wife. The film itself drags a bit but is still worth watching for Matthew, and a great supporting cast too.

Another is What Love Is, Matt plays a horrible chauvinistic character with some nasty dialogue but he has layers and his chemistry with Gina Gershon is amazing. The film is too long, and some characters and scenes could be cut all together but Matt makes this worth watching.

A newer one is Spooner, this is a great personal project that was made by a first time feature director and writer. It has a slight story (boy meets girl, boy has to move out of home, wants to woo girl, etc) some brilliant scenes reuniting Matthew with his SLC Punk father, Christopher McDonald, and Nora Zehetner is adorable as Rose, who catches Spooner's eye. The film just didn't give us enough emotional development but it was pleasant to watch! Unfortunately I believe the direction took a wrong turn during some scenes that seem stalkerishy instead of romantic but it is a lovely sweet film and worth a watch! There'll be a competition on my fansite later this week to win a DVD!

I always think of Scream and Hackers for nostalgic reasons as they were the ones that got me into Matthew! I'm not sure what ones you have seen already, so let me know if you want an opinion on any other films! I've just tried to focus on his newer ones that not many people may know about so far?

Oooh, there's Messages Deleted as well, which is a tense thriller starring Matt as a movie screenwriting professor, I enjoyed that a lot!

Happy birthday! =D

Yes His performance was great, I found the ending to be rather confusing though,It just was hard to understand but I do like the movie, And that is why I bought it.

I just bought the grooms men about a week or two ago, He was real good in that movie aswell for the little parts he played in it. I would have liked it if he had the starring role, Esp considering he would have been starring along-side Murphy who was a great actress.

I've never seen what love is, Does he have a big part in the movie?.

I've seen the dvd for spooner but I didn't think I would like it so I never picked it up.

I've seen SLC punk once, Matt was real good in that movie but it wasn't really my taste of movie.

You will, What kind of competition, Will that movie be the prize or will there be others of his movies aswell to win? Could you give me the link to that site?. Thanks!

I haven't seen scream in such a long-time I really can't remember it, Hackers I have never seen but Messages deleted, I have and that is an awesome movie, I really liked it, I've been wanting to find it to buy but no-one has it in the US.

I have also seen Spanish Judges, That one was pretty good, I didn't like the sex scene that they had but it was still good, Matt was great and I also loved that the movie had Vincent D (How-ever you spell his last name) in it aswell Because I am a fan of his too.

Have you ever seen Animal room? That stars Matt and Patrick Neil Harris, Another actor I like. It is a rather quirky movie, Dark but I enjoyed both actors performances, I hated Matt's hair though in that movie< yuck lol
It had a interesting twist at the end of that one too like the curve did.

That's about all I've seen of his.

Oooh yes, Spanish Judges was good too. Animal Room I enjoyed too, very dark and the hair was definitely different, haha.

Have you seen Without A Paddle? With Seth Green? That's really good and fun to watch!

Are you a new Matt fan? I'm definitely not. 13 Ghosts turned me into a fanatic almost 9 years ago.

Yes, I like animal room also.

Did you see his episode of Law & Order? It made me fall for him all over again!

Also, he does have a big part in What Love Is. I agree with sassygirl that it's not a movie for everybody, but I liked it and he's really good in it, so I recommend it!

I also first started liking him in 13 ghosts, One of my fav roles of his.

:) It's a good movie

Yes, I did, I was hoping that he had a bigger part in it but I did like his role very much!.

Okay, I'll have to try to watch it!.

How did you interpret the ending of Messages Deleted (which is one of my favorites)? I think he was psychotic and killing people without realizing it, but I'm not completely certain about that.

Weren't you mad when you realized Imdb gave away part of the ending in 2008? That nearly ruined it for me.

It's been awhile since I've seen it, So I can't really remember the ending all that where, Wasn't the girl the killer though?, I remember some girl, A student of his trying to kill him, Wasn't she?. She was trying to frame him for the murders?.

No, Because I actually didn't know of the movie until just recently.
And I was able to find it on the internet to watch, So I've only seen it once but I do really want to buy it, But the only places that have it is Amazon and it's in the UK. So I'm not sure if my dvd player would play it, And I would hate to buy it and get it & it not play.
