A few Exclamation Marks, some Smileys and a bit of Text

Let's be Friends. by *sebreg on deviantART

I've had a wonderfully long Thursday-Sunday weekend and celebrated my counsin Staffan's get-a-white-hat-day and ate lots of cake and things. I'm on week four of work, and it's still fun and interesting. The time is nearing when people start disappearing, and thus I'm also starting to feel like I don't know anything again. My two main concerns will be Konstrundan and the Artist in Residence-program, and I'll also soon learn how to properly document new artworks that have been bought, and get them into the system.

Though, what I've spent most of my time on so far, is a list of all the Konstrundan-participants in the region Pro Artibus is responsible for, which I might have mentioned in an earlier post. Lots of photoshopping and writing small texts and editing and making new versions and waiting for Photoshop to open the files. It's not an offical Konstrundan-project, so it won't be needed for anything offical, and thus, considering the time and effort I put into it, it feels a little silly. But, it might be of use on Pro Artibus webpages and the artists seemed to appreciate it as well, at least those that I've met and showed it to. If nothing else, I've learned something about the participants ^_^

Tomorrow and until Sunday I'll be guarding the gallery from 11-17, which I think will be interesting. I doubt there'll actually be a lot of visitors, but maybe I'll get to meet some. I'll have to read up a little on the works, so that I can sound like I know everything! And since it'll be pretty quiet, I'm considering bringing my own computer, so I could do some drawing while I sit there, or, heh, maybe even watch a movie. Shh. Nah, I'll probably have to look like I'm doing something work-related.

Next Tuesday, the current South African artists in residence, a Wesley and a Paul, are having an exhibition. Thankfully they're very capable and self-reliant, so there's not much that needs to be done, but I'll still need to be on call since I'll be their contactperson after Åsa, who is otherwise in charge, goes on vacation. I'll get to translate some of their statements, I think, and today I sent them a template for an invitation-card that they'll design. I left work after I (hopefully) successfully sent the material to them. Both of them are very nice and friendly, and joke around a lot. I'm a little sad I hadn't had time to hang out with them more, and they're leaving by the end of the month. Oh well!

And also, I still haven't had time to walk around Ekenäs as much as I'd hoped. When I started working, I'd only see retired couples and families with young children walking around town. Now that summervacations have started there are more young people about, which is nice. There was even a military parade today, so got to look at a few passing solider-boys. Otherwise, I regret to inform, there haven't been many interesting individuals around. Except yesterday, when someone cute helped bring in a new artwork that had been bought.

I did make an exciting trip to the post-office though! I looked at the map like five times before I drove off, but got confused at the first turn, and then the map didn't make any sense any more. I did find the post office, and sent off a parcel of precious leaf-gold and other various materials, to Åland, of all places :D

I hadn't thought of how I would get back onto a road that would lead me home, though. So I looked at the map, decided I knew how to get out, followed the road I thought was correct, and again, had no idea where I was. Took a right turn, thought I recognized the road -- took another right turn -- and was lost again, so I decided to continue forward, and miraculously ended up where I was supposed to go. And I didn't drive over anyone or crash into anything while doing all of this, so I deem it a successful adventure!

And, even more work related posting: During the week after Midsummer, I'll be in Pro Artibus' gallery Sinne in Helsingfors. It'll be even more of a hassle to get there (first 30 min by car to the train and by train into the city), but I think it'll be fun to be there as well! ^-^ There'll be a new exhibition opening that week, so I'll get to help prepare it.

Ugh. Now the more I think about it all, I feel even more unqualified and awkward, even though, as I said, I'm starting to get a hang of it. I know I'll be fine and there'll always be someone I can call and ask, so I only worry for the sake of worrying.

Dogs: They are doing fine. Cossu has gained a bit of extra weight, due to extra bones and pig-ears and lauantaimakkara, even though she's almost on half-rations >_< Qvintus is cute and has his grown-up moments. Listens to me awesomely (most of the time), and has thus decided to stop running after every single car that goes by. There's seriously a deeptrodden race-track along the fence where he's been running.

It is also warm outside. I like it, for now, until it'll become too warm for me to wear tights, and then I'll have to rethink my entire wardrobe. Thankfully we have air conditioning in the car, at work, and at home ;)

Oh, and I finished Dragon Age II..! Omg, quite epic, and now I will wait a while and then make another character! :D
