My friend, teacher and boss from Maryland Ren Fest passed away two weeks ago...
Her obituary in the Rochester Democrat & Chronicle She introduced me to everyone as her "beautiful assistant" and said I was the best assistant she ever had. She apparently told her friends about me - they greeted me with, "Oh THIS is Kender!" At Faire it was my job to keep her from being too generous (she would give things away just to see people, especially kids, smile) and to encourage her to keep producing more stock to sell. Her generosity and her trust in people were huge.
I can't even say it's a good thing that she's no longer in pain. Despite her pain and medical problems, she always looked for the sun after the storm. It sounds selfish but now I wish I had accepted more of the glass she kept offering me (I didn't take it because I wanted her to be able to have the income from selling it). And I had so much more to learn from her :'(
